Comments : Travelled with my son and CBP officer said we need to go to waiting room since my son (US Citizen through CRBA) has a flag. Went to waiting room, gave the officer my son’s US passport and they let us go after about 20 mins without talking to us or asking for anything else

Event Description

Embassy Review : Interview is scheduled for 11:30am. We ended up parking at Weller Court Shopping Center for $10/full day. We arrived in DTLA before 10am. Since the previous reviews says that lines can be long, we tried to come in earlier. We had coffee at the nearby starbucks and decided to walk in to the Federal bldg around 1040ish. First security asked if we were coming in for an interview and asked to look at our appointment letter. He then directed us to another line/door which I’m guessing is specifically used by USCIS. There is only one person ahead of us so we were in and out of security within 2 mins. We were able to check-in at window 1 of room 8024 at around 10:53am. Everyone seems nice. The waiting room is full of other applicants for AOS marriage based and citizenship. I am not sure if it was just my nerves or if the waiting room is indeed stuffy. There is a play area for kids. We waited patiently for them to call my name. 11:30 passed and as almost everyone is called we continue to wait for our turn. Finally at around 12:15, the IO called my name in door #2. He is a middle aged hispanic guy and seemed intimidating at first but then went on to have a little chit chat with me and my husband while he guide us through the interview room. It was a long hallway full of interview rooms 🙃. Overall the interview went great and the area for the interview rooms isn’t too stuffy as the waiting area. Before we left we told the IO that we thought of bringing our kid with us to the interview. He said we made the right call not to since kids tend to run around and we might just be distracted and/or stressed. Just FYI to those thinking of taking their kids with them to AOS interview. 😀

Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
