Comments : So I had my interview today at 6:30, arrived at the Consulate General at around 5:50am with my wife and daughter (US Citizens).

They started letting us standing in the que at exactly 6:20am.

When I entered the Consulate I was first attended to by a CGI officer, I was asked to present my appointment letter, Original Marriage certificate, Birth certificate and police report (s) and proof of relationship Like photos ,Birth certificate of our child and her US/Nigerian passports, receipts and I was then given a number to wait to been called by a consular officer.

About 3 hours later I was called by a consular officer.

Me : Good morning sir

CO : Good morning

Asked to then take finger prints

CO: You guys met in collage right?

Me : Yes Sir.

CO: Your wife and your daughter came to Nigeria after your graduation from college right?

Me: Yes sir.

CO: So both of you speak Chinese?

Me : Yes sir but I am more fluent than her

CO: I can see your daughter was born in INDIANA, ( He was literally going through our daughter's passports and said wow two passports) .

Me: Yes sir 'smile'

CO: But she's currently unemployed ?

Me : Yes sir,

Co: Who is your joint Sponsor?

Me: My mother in-law

Co: Is she married?

Me: No sir.

Co: What does she do for a living?

Me : Answered

Co: When do you all plan on completing your immigration.

Me: Answered .

Co: But we don't accept this Birth certificate

Me: I quickly handed him my attestation of Birth certificate because the CGI officer told me my birth certificate was fine alone and insisted on collecting only my birth certificate.

Co: I will approve you, but I will keep your attestation of Birth certificate and ask one of my staff to get it scanned and it will be returned along with your passport in two weeks and then handed me a paper on how to pick up my passport

Me : OK, thank You sir.

I quickly went outside the building and shared the good news to my wife and she was very excited.

My wife and I met in collage and she has been living in Nigeria with me for 3 and the half years now and she has really missed home alot. ( We had to uploaded a lot of documents prior to my interview to show Proof of domicile because we knew we might have an issue on this part since my wife has been residing abroad for a long time but I can I assure you we was well prepared Lol).

Note: Do not give up in this process, there was a time I was thinking, wondering if this day was ever gonna come , but I kept the faith and belief, just don't worry and I assure you it will get to your turn. I'm so excited and very greatful to everyone who has been helpful.

Goodluck to everyone in this process.

Congrats! Did you expedite by any chance?
Eddie Eddie NG on 2022-06-14 said:
@Niq , yes I did expedited in both stages, I.e USCIS & NVC
blank avatar Eno-Abasi on 2022-06-15 said:
Congratulations!!! Almost there!!!! How soon after the expedite was approved at NVC did you receive an interview letter?
blank avatar VEO on 2022-06-18 said:
Hi Eddie, would you mind sharing what your reason for expedite was? I was DQd February 26th 2021, I applied for expedite based on my husband's (Beneficiary) medical condition on July 2021 and was refused. I'm wondering if your expedite was based on a medical condition and if it was the Beneficiary or the applicant that had the condition.
Eddie Eddie NG on 2022-06-19 said:
@Eno-Abasi, within few hours after my Expedite approval I was instructed to schedule my own appointment by the Immigrant visa section, US Consulate General Lagos

@VEO - My wife (petitioner) has been residing with me for years now in Nigeria. However, there is a serious emergency that has made us to relocate back to the US together with our children which we were able to provide SUFFICIENT evidence to proof our case.....I think in other to expedite your case, the hardship should be towards the Petitioner's side. GOOD LUCK!

Hi. Congratulations on your interview!! I also expedited my case and it was approved. The Lagos consulate also received our package that same day, a day after your case was received. The sent an email for us to schedule for an interview. However, when we get to the point for scheduling on the CGIfederal website it says, "There are currently no available appointments." Please, how were you able to get an interview date so fast? What do you advice I do? I'm not sure why the calendar has yet to open. Thank you for your guidance.
Eddie Eddie NG on 2022-06-22 said:
Hello Chinny95, I heard that the calendar is currently open for self schedule now for JULY 29th or so, hope you have secured a date already. As for me I was able to find a date at around 9:30am Nigerian time.

Wow congratulations. I’m so happy to have come across this timeline because my husband and I are in a similar situation. I stay with him in Nigeria pending the time of him getting a visa. Demonstration of financial support as a sponsor was a concern as I do not have any income here now especially compared to what I earned in the U.S so we had been planning for my dad to be his joint sponsor. We were also concerned about proving domicile. We also had a child together. Did you do the filing all on your own or did you have an attorney? I also have some other questions pertaining to immigration 1) did your wife get citizenship in Nigeria or how did she extend her stay I’m currently using a visitor visa and it’s about to expire soon 2) how easy was your CRBA process? (I’m assuming your wife stayed with you the entire 3 years and did not travel back at all during that time) 3) how well did your wife get acclimated in Nigeria? I’m also missing home hahaha

Okay I just read your interview again and saw that your daughter was born in Indiana. How much time did you spend apart from your wife? My first child was born in the U.S but I want this child to be born here because I don’t really think it makes a difference except minus the stress of traveling which I really hate and I prefer to be with my husband this time around.
Eddie Eddie NG on 2022-09-04 said:
My wife had a Niger-wife residence permit valid till 2026 August. And yes, our daughter was born in INDIANA

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
