Hi guys! I see here you received an RFE. If you don't mind my asking, what was the RFE for? Have you submitted it yet?

We just got it in the mail two days ago. Said we submitted a translation of the marriage certificate (used the embassy form to self-translate), but need photocopies of the original language document...which we definitely submitted an official copy from the ward office...
The fine print says to include the original langue document with a full translation.
We’re going to get two official copies from the ward office, get a certified paid translation. Have until mid-April to respond.

hello. does that mean a scan of the (japanese) original certificate + self-produced translation will NOT suffice..?

Hi Bubob,
we only submitted the original city hall one + self-produced translation and they accepted it.
NVC stage is the same for 戸ç±ã€€and çµå©šå—ç†è¨¼æ˜Žæ›¸. Never used a professional translator. NVC also accepted them.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
