Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K3 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : Here's how she told me it went:javascript:emoticon('')
smilie
They gave her a checklist but she noticed that there were a few documents not listed there and assumed they gave her the wrong one.. later, they told her they gave her the wrong one.. but she was prepared and had her own checklist (i made for her from VJ) and the documents they needed. Got called up for the interview with a guy who intensely stared in her eyes when he asked the first question (probably trying to intimidate her).. anyway, she stared back, confidently replied politely... at which time, he stopped giving her the tough look...

Questions he asked:javascript:emoticon('')
smilie
He first asked her when did we meet, how did we meet, when did the relationship became serious, did we live together when I was there in Brazil for a year... looked through the documents.. and seemed to be satisfied so far.. but continued asking pretty banal questions as did you commit any criminal? Are you healthy? and that was it until the last part where he noticed I didn't make enough money last year 2006 and I would need a join sponsor but she said she does have a joint sponsor (my dad) then gave him the package for my Dad.. he took the documents then looked at her, then said, ok.. then checked a green card to give to her and told her to go pay for the Sedex to have her passport sent back to her!!! The CO didn't ask any proof of our relationship, probably because we lived together for over a year. She was also very nervous because, she tried to apply for a tourist visa twice and got turned down which never came up in the interview.

The CO was brief to the point, so was she. She was so nervous that she started seeing him a bit blurry in the beginning...

Other Interviews:
She spoke to a girl in tears that was missing a police certificate and spoke with another one whom consulted a lawyer but had no idea about what to expect for the interview... I'm sure any of VJers would do a much better job at helping people prepare, now that we've gone thru it...

Anyway... it seemed endless but with perseverance, research, we can do it.... SHE'S COMING HOME!!! THANKS, OBRIGADO and may the light shine upon you as it was upon us!!! star_smile.gif
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
