We had over a month delay in getting Packet 3. Initially, the Panama embassy would not accept our case because my fiancé is from Nicaragua and does not have residency in Panama and had overstayed his tourism visa. They tried to transfer the case to Nicaragua for weeks, but the embassy in Nicaragua never responded.... Eventually, they accepted our request for the interview in Panama after we could show them that we were able to obtain a police record in Panama (which usually isn’t given to those without residency). |

Biometric appointment was in Riverside, CA. We arrived 30 mins early and we were only there for about 15 minutes. The staff was very kind and the process was easy and stress-free.

Embassy Review : |
We arrived about 30 mins early. When we arrived the men at the entry gate told us to wait there. There was a large group of us waiting outside there in front of the gate until we could enter, about 45 mins. Finally, when they allowed us to enter we walked up a hill to the buildings above. There we passed through security and were not allowed to bring anything besides the binders we had for the interview. Don’t bring the medical cd, you can’t bring it in. Then we entered in another building and were told to take a number. We waited about 20 mins until our number was called. We went to the window and the woman asked for all of our paperwork. We turned in everything that we were told to bring in the email from the embassy. Then we were told to sit down and wait for the beneficiary’s name to be called. We waited about 20 mins and when they called his name we both went to the window, however they told me, the petitioner, that the interview would only be with the beneficiary. He did the interview for about 10 mins while I waited from my chair close by. At the end, I was called up to the window just to answer a couple questions about my financial paperwork. I answered the questions and then the man said congratulations your K1 visa is approved. You will receive it in about 2 weeks. It was 2 weeks exactly when we received the passport with the K1 visa. We were getting so impatient that finally that day, at exactly 2 weeks, we went to the mail pickup place we had chosen and it turns out it had just arrived!! We were so excited because we didn’t expect it. Turns out, we never got an email from the embassy saying it was there. If they called us it would have been the day after or later, but we wouldn’t know because we left the night we got the passport!! Overall, it was stressful because it meant so much to us, but the process was very simple and stress free. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
