Event Description

Embassy Review : She had an amazingly easy interview at the US Embassy in Manila. I accompanied her to witness the whole thing. We spent a lot of time gathering photos and back-and forth messages, documents having both our names on it (title on car I bought us, rental lease). Also, I had a very detailed Affidavit of Support document. Well at her interview they didn't ask for any of that...just some standard "how did we meet", "how many times I come to visit", "where do we plan to live in the US". One thing, however, and I'm glad I was there as I was asked to come to the interview counter to clear up if I was a resident or not. I have visited my fiancé around 15+ times since 2010 so the interviewer thought I might be a resident. I'm recently retired (as of 2017) so between coming twice a year while I was working, then staying longer on extended visa visits I guess that raised some concern. The interviewer never asked to see my passport stamps or visas, just wanted clarification. After that, she said our K-1 visa would be approved. I guess it depends who interviews you and how my girlfriend and I present ourselves...properly dressed, relaxed and friendly.

Great experience aside from the normal line waiting!! Yay! :-)
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
