Event Description

Embassy Review : It’s been almost two weeks since my interview has been finished and fortunately they approved my visa. I was scheduled for an interview last April 29, 2019 at 06:45am and I got at the USEM at around 5:30am in the morning. There were already lots of people outside that are preparing for the interview and appointments. After a while, they started calling people who have 06:45am interviews to line up and prepare to enter the embassy. You just need to prepare the DS-160 form so that they will attach a bar code onto it so that that will be your reference when you get inside and wait for the interview. I have gone through security and no phones are allowed, I came with someone else have them carry my phone for a while until my appointment is over. When I entered the main lobby, we were instructed to take a seat and the seat location will depend on the barcode that is attached on your DS-160 form.

When it is my turn, the first part is I got interviewed by a Filipino consul and they asked for the requirements. They then asked a series of questions regarding the personal information of me and my fiance. I just answered everything truthfully like what is my name, my fiance’s name, where was I born, where was my fiance born, our birthdays, how did we meet, for how long we have known each other, and other questions regarding the documents I submitted. I have to say that this is the most tedious part of my appointment because the Filipino consul tends to ask you a lot of questions and they raise their voice in the process which did not really come out as nice to me. The only that they will be returning is the DS-160 and then you will go to the second part.

The second part is for biometrics. I was guided by an American consul, she took my fingerprints and she was very nice. This was rather quick in under 1 minute, you just need to submit your DS-160.

The last part is the most crucial part and this was the interview with an American consul. Again, just submit the DS-160 form and you won’t be in a private room, you are just going to stand in the same room as every applicant is waiting in and the CO will be behind a glass. I did not think that they heard our conversation because the CO has a soft voice and I myself sometimes needed to request him to repeat the question again. It was very straightforward and fast as the only questions he asked me was what is my fiance’s full name, how old is he, how did we meet, when did we meet, was he a Filipino before, when did he go to the United States, and that was it. He did not even look or requested for the evidence of our relationship. He said that he will approve my visa and will receive in 1 to 3 weeks.

The interview part is quick and only the waiting part is longer. I’m inside the embassy at 6:45am and the final interview is not going to start until 8:00am. I got out of the embassy around 8:30am and the experience is really satisfying knowing that the visa has been approved. Relax and answer the questions truthfully and you will be okay.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
