Consulate Review: South Africa
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 24, 2019
Embassy Review : Very friendly staff, as nerve wrecking it can be I'll give the same advice everyone else here gave me, be calm and relaxed it goes very smoothly.

Arrived 8 AM for my 9 AM appointment, they let me in as the consulate was very quite, the whole process was under an hour.

Arrived at the consulate and gave the help desk my passport, filled out some piece of paper with case number and my contact details, they applied a sticker on the back of my passport for my pick up location.

Proceeded to sit in the line and wait to be called to counter 4, handed over all the required docs for the k-1 visa.

Then waited to be called to window 6, raised my right hand and confirmed all info supplied and answers are true etc..

Questions he asked:

where did we meet
When did my fiance visit me
what is my background in my studies and work
was I married before/ was my fiance married before
when last did I see my fiance

Then he simply said he has some admin to take care of but he will approve my visa later today.

Overall experience was very smooth and efficient, I was out there so quick I still had to check if I took all my paperwork with me that they return i.e. Birth cert and old passport with previous visas
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
