Hey guys! Have you hd any news on your application? I saw our center has been approving people who filed at the beginning of April.

Sorry, but we just filed our I-130 April 2020. I wish it was approved that fast!

Have you guys heard anything from the NVC about your case?

Not yet as we finally just submitted our final civil document. Home Affairs messed up our marriage register and after 4 months of waiting we went with DocAssist and received it fairly quickly. We are hoping 2-3 months and we will FINALLY be reunited!

Update...Home Affairs and DocAssist messed up our marriage register once again and thankfully they rushed to get us the corrected one. NVC has reviewed our documents and they have been approved. How long did it take for your case to be changed to completed? We are getting so excited!

Our case was considered completed when we were documentary qualified, but at the time of our process, Johannesburg was under pretty strict lockdown, so we had to appeal for an expedite. Our wait until we were contacted by the consulate was about the same as yours, only we didn't receive a letter. They emailed my husband directly so he could schedule his medical and then he contacted them right after his medical to schedule his interview. I'm glad you were able to get in for an interview! I see you've even made it state side already! That is so awesome! Congratulations and welcome to the US!

Congrats, I was wondering how long was the visa valid for if I need time to get things sorted before leaving.

Your passport acts as a temporary green card and good for one year...there should be an expiration date on it. However, I think you have up to six months from obtaining your visa to enter the US. We're still waiting for our official green card. Hope this helps.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
