So I happen to see you when through Algeria for your fiancé visa. I am doing the same my fiancé’s visa is currently at NVC (2 weeks now) so I was wondering if you could tell me some of the things they asked for ? Did it go smoothly ? We are just nervous and I want to make sure I have everything. You and I both know there is not many people who do these visa in Algeria. Thank you so much for any information.

Everything went pretty smoothly, any time we had any issues or questions, we were able to email the U.S. Embassy in Algiers and they got back to us within a few days. For example, for weeks, it kept saying "no appointments available" when we tried to make the interview appointment, but once we emailed the embassy, appointments opened up. Note that it seems to be only Wednesdays that they do K1 interviews. You will receive an email with a full list of what is needed for your fiance to bring to the appointment, but you can start gathering that now. Things like a police record, military record (yellow card), passport, certificate of no marriage or appropriate divorce papers, and of course further evidence of relationship. All of those documents must be translated. My fiances interview went very well, but I had not submitted the correct tax information for the I-134. I submitted my W-2's, but what they wanted was the tax transcript that can be obtained from the irs website. Include a few years worth. This is what ultimately delayed the approval process. Now we're just waiting for the passport to arrive to aramex!

Ok thank you I will have tell my fiancé that. I am happy yours went so smoothly that gives us hope. I already grabbed the last 3 years tax transcripts because I just had a feeling. I’ll have to have him get his police record and military we translated. Thank you honestly you gave me soo much relief I can’t even express. I wish you and Yacine nothing but happiness.

Thank you and best of luck to you as well! The people at the embassy are very helpful and friendly, that set my fiance at ease very much. If you have a legitimate relationship, which you do since you've made it this far, you should feel relieved. It's just about timing and appointment availability. Also, making a medical appointment was difficult, it was very hard getting in touch with the clinic, so be sure to give yourself enough time before making an interview appointment at the embassy. I don't know if what we did was correct, but my fiance had his medical appointment BEFORE we even scheduled the interview because we were having trouble. The clinic even messed up and he had to return for more tests (he lives in Oran so that wasn't so convenient). And then they don't have all the vaccines there, so your fiance will have to find local clinics to get his vaccines, Best of luck!

Ok perfect I told him to get his vaccines in his city. He lives outside of Oran but very close to Oran. I don’t want him to have to return it’s not easy for them. I will do Medical first before the appointment I kinda knew they would be an issue. He told me to ask you though ( if you don’t mind me asking) how much did you make in 2018 on your taxes ?? He he is worried I didn’t make enough.

I was fortunate to be able to make a lot of money last year, but I don't think you should compare our case to yours. With your i-134, include lots of pay statements, get a letter from your bank showing your average balance and when your account was opened (request an immigration letter. My bank, Chase, knew exactly what I needed). Try to include as much financial info as possible. I don't know how necessary that is, but it could help!

I told him this every single case is different. He’s a little hard headed lol. My bank isn’t like an actual bank where I can request things. I had a situation due to I was married before and It made an issue for a real bank. Anyways I have all the pay I can. I just got a new job and I drive Lyft because in vegas you make amazing money driving but I have tax papers for that because I just filled my quarterly taxes for that and my new job is giving me a paper for him as well. All I can do is give him everything and hope for the best. I appreciate you being so helpful and responsive.

My fiance had his yellow card, so I do not believe it was asked about. You do need the yellow card or proof of military service.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
