The process was relatively fast and easy for us (87 days). We have known each other since we were 15 though so I think that helped. Best advice is to prepare for everything even if they don't tell you and give them more than they ask for. |

Embassy Review : |
We got our packet 4 from the embassy about a month after we had filed the I-129. The information they asked for sounds like the same for all the other embassies. However, they told us at the embassy that we did not need a police report from my fiancee's home country (Brazil) but ended up asking for it at the interview. They also lost some of our paperwork and didn't realize it until we called them asking about when our interview date was going to be. Our doctor's appointment was three days before the interview. One thing they don't tell you is that you will have to go from the doctor's office to a blood test office, to a radiology office, and then have to buy whatever vaccines you are missing and find someone to give them to you. However, our doctor was very nice and we got all the stuff done in the same day.
On the day of the interview we arrived at 1:00pm. Unfortunately we were one of the last people there and weren't seen until about 3:30pm. The interview is pretty straight forward especially since we have known each other for so long. The only issue was that they interview you through the glass banks style security windows so everyone can hear your conversation. One of the people working there let everyone in the waiting room know, albeit unintentionally, that she had syphilis. Also at the interview they asked us for a form that they had not included in the packet they sent us. Luckily we were able to fill it out there at the embassy.
I recommend that you keep in good contact with the embassy. If you don't hear back from them after you submit your packet then give them a call after about two weeks. Bring everything with you, even if you don't think you will need it. It can take a while but the people are generally friendly. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
