I am not gonna say very detailed about process, but major hiccups and what was different in my case.
We arrived one day before the interview. Stayed at Chrome Hotel downtown which is 2 blocks away from the US Consulate.
Interview time was 7.30am. We arrived by 7am , one family was already there. I was really worrying about purse and USBs I took with me. But after we entered consulate, they screened my purse and asked to leave usb in the locker( I was given number in order to pick up after). We are K1 and K2 applicants. And because of my son close to age 21 already , our case was expedited. The interview process is very simple. At first window they ask for divorce certificates, passports, birthdays certificates, Support affidavit. Have Copies and Originals!! They will keep the copies. Then we had interview in the second window. Lady asked literally 5 questions.
1. name of the Petitioner
2. Place where I am gonna live in USA
3. If I was married before
4. How often I saw my fiance and where we meet
5. How many kids I have.
that's it. She even didn't ask for evidence. I got pink slip "Welcome to USA" and we left consulate. Approved.
Important:
DO NOT PAY CASH FOR VISA
In packet 4 I was asked to pay cash for fee at the day of interview. I listened and brought cash with me and paid at the consulate , not through the website. That is causing me major headache. As now they say because I didn't pay through the courier site , I can't use their service for delivery passports. I had to buy prepaid self addressed envelopes and mail to them. On tracking I see that my package was rejected. Real headache. |

Timeline Comments: 3We still didn't get our NOA2.
I see that people who received NOA1 even later than us, got NOA 2
Is anyone like us , has more than 6 months passed and still no NOA 2
Received RFE request. Simple we forgot to mark NO in checkbox for International broker.
NVC package still didn't arrived
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
