I'll be interested to see when you guys get your NOA2. We got our NOA1 on 9/21/18 and went through the Texas drop box as well.
Ed And Yana on 2019-03-11 said:
Oh, it would be great to know when you get your NOA2 as well (assuming you haven't yet).
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-03-11 said:
I'll definitely let you know. I'm getting a little concerned given the fact that we're past our 5 and half month mark and that is when a lot of other people seem to have gotten their NOA2's, but they all went though the California drop box, not Texas like we did. Not sure what the difference really is.
Ed And Yana on 2019-03-11 said:
I'm not too worried about it yet. The "long processing date" on USCIS is currently Aug 2 so I think it's in the normal range still. Is your fiance from Russia as well?
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-03-11 said:
Well I'll definitely drop you a line once we get our notice. Hopefully that will give you at least some degree of confidence that yours should arrive shortly thereafter. ...and yes she is.
Ed And Yana on 2019-03-11 said:
Cool, thanks. I'll do the same if I don't hear from you. I'm sure country has something to do with the time as well... Some being easier to clear than others. Hopefully we'll both have great news soon.

I received the NOA2 today, though it's dated 5 March. Granted I only check my mail once a week or so. I didn't receive a text like I did with NOA1, and the site still lists my case as received, but I have the approval in hand :)
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-03-14 said:
Congratulations! That's great news. I'm sure that is a load off of your mind. Thanks for letting me know. Best of luck on everything that follows.
Ed And Yana on 2019-03-14 said:
Thank you. Hopefully yours isn't too far behind. Let me know when yours comes. I'm curious about the timing of it all.

Well we finally got our NOA2 last Saturday. Now to begin the NVC waiting process. Just figured I'd stop by and let ya know. Hoping it won't take the full 6 weeks they quoted...
Ed And Yana on 2019-04-14 said:
Congratulations! Thanks for the message! We haven't heard from NVC yet, though I've been in Europe for the past week or so; it's possible a letter is sitting in my mailbox at home. Find out in a week and a half. So, ours seems to be taking the full six weeks, but maybe you'll catch up and pass us :)
Ed And Yana on 2019-04-16 said:
We received an email from NVC today... Took just about the full 6 weeks, but we got it!
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-04-16 said:
At least that means they are running "on time" so to speak. Thanks for letting me know. I have no idea what the next step is, I'm guessing they send the case over to the consulate in Moscow and then they notify you that you can schedule the dr's appointment and interview...? I'd be very interested to hear the logistics of how all of that goes down. Since we're about 5 weeks behind you I'm guessing by the time were at that point you guys should be well through it and be experts on the process. ;) I hope the journey continues to be a smooth one, for you both, from here on out.
Ed And Yana on 2019-04-17 said:
Yeah, after the NOA2 the next thing was this email I received yesterday. In it, is the case number at NVC, and instructions that they sent a package to Moscow. Also a link to a website to get more info on next steps. I can share some of that info with you once I'm back at a PC. I'm on my phone traveling this week so it's a bit tough. But. Hopefully I can help take some of the mysteout of it.

Thanks Ed. No rush. Travel safe.

Hey Ed, just wanted to check in. We just got our case number today, so I think you're a solid month ahead of us in the process, and I wanted to see how things were progressing for you. Hope all is well.
Ed And Yana on 2019-05-15 said:
Hey there. You're referring to NOA2? Congrats!! We're still awaiting the packet from the embassy. I believe it's four weeks this week since our NOA2, so hopefully it shows up soon. We're getting anxious, haha. We've started gathering other docs and such so hopefully things go quickly once we get the packet. I'll keep you posted.
Ed And Yana on 2019-05-15 said:
As luck would have it, my fiance just received the packet from the embassy today :) So, that's about four weeks from NOA2.
Ed And Yana on 2019-05-15 said:
Turns out it wasn't the packet. She heard there was a packet at home and whe she got there it was just the NVC letter for the NOA2. So... Still waiting.
Ed And Yana on 2019-05-21 said:
Hey Mathew, Today we received a letter from the consulate stating that we can schedule the interview and it is ready for processing. Ed.
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-05-25 said:
Glad things are moving along man. I would be really interested to know what date you are able to get for the interview and/or how that process goes. Last I heard, something happened at the St. Petersburg consulate and as of 3/31/2019 all interviews there got cancelled and everyone got referred to another consulate, most to Moscow for rescheduling. I'm curious just how backed up things are at the moment.
Ed And Yana on 2019-05-25 said:
Yeah, Moscow interviews only for now. My fiance is still working on DS-160 and once she's done she can schedule the interview. I'll update here and update our time line once we know.
blank avatar Mathew And Nina on 2019-05-25 said:
...and thanks again for keeping me in the loop on some of this stuff. It has definitely helped Nina and I put some semblance of an accurate time estimate around these last phases. We really appreciate it.
Ed And Yana on 2019-06-06 said:
Hey Matt, So we got our interview date... June 20. The complicated part with that is just scheduling it. My fiance had to call and check online. If you check online too often your account will be locked out. So... She would look once or twice a day, then call. There's no calendar of available interview dates. They just give you a date when "one is available". She could have gone in for the interview this week (June 4), except that didn't work with her eldest daughter's school exam schedule, as well we wouldn't have had enough time for the medical exam. The medical exam is $245 and requires a three day turnaround because of the TB test. Since the two appointments don't necessarily work well in planning together my fiance and her girls have to go to Moscow twice... Once for the exam and stay until it's complete, then once for the interview. I suppose with a bit of scheduling luck one could stay for a single visit. That's what I know for now. I hope this helps.
Ed And Yana on 2019-06-20 said:
Visa Approved today (June 20)!! Yana said the interview went very smoothly, and they approved at the time of the interview (passports and docs to come within two weeks).

Nina and I both offer you our congratulations on making it to the finish line. Thanks for all of the info along the way. It has been very helpful to get the perspective of someone who is few steps ahead in the process. Thanks again Ed.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
