Embassy Review : |
Our appointment was for 11:00 AM and we arrived about 45 minutes early since other reviews have stated that the line to get into the building could potentially be long. It took us about 10 minutes to clear security and proceed to the Eight floor. We checked in and waited for about 45 minutes in the spacious waiting room before my wife's name was called.
We followed the officer to his office and were sworn in. My wife then took a photo and some fingerprints. He then started to ask her some questions. He asked basic questions like her name, birth certificate, her parents' names, her birthday, our address and her phone number. He then proceeded to go through the yes/no questions from the I-485 form. I believe he asked all of the questions from that section of the I-485 form. He also asked about how she entered the country and asked for her medical info. My wife had submitted it at the point of entry but she showed him her own personal copies.
He then asked me questions as to how met, what our dating process was like, when did I start to develop feelings for my wife and other relationship questions. He asked my wife what the best thing that I cooked. He asked both of us what was the best thing we liked about the other person. He then asked us for additional proof of our relationship. We showed him pictures from our various travels, photos from our families meeting and wedding photos. We also gave him copies of our joint bank account, utility bills and insurance bills. He then stated that he needed to take copies of our additional photos and other documents that we brought as well as check over the file to make sure everything was in order. He also said that he had to verify our backgrounds. He directed us back to the waiting room and would notify us the result in a few minutes. He came back out after about 10 minutes and told us we were approved. He gave us the letter that states the approval and shook both our hands. In total we spent about 2 hours there. |

Timeline Comments: 2Hi, I got my RFE on 6/24 and they received my response on 7/25. Still no further status updates. I've learned that meanwhile waiting for our RFE responses, our EADs paused their process as well. It's a quite upsetting and unfortunate situation for us, if you can just go ahead and send those whatever they are asking for asap it will be better. And always recommend to work with a good attorney when it comes to RFE situation imo. I've learned that recently especially in LA, they speed up a bit, lots of people that got their NOAs on early April have been scheduled for their interviews in mid-ish September. Good Luck!!!
Thanks for the comment. I already sent out the documents they requested. I sent them on August 20 overnight and I got a message that they received them on August 21. We are trying to avoid hiring an attorney but thanks for the advice. Maybe we will need one down the line. I hope you receive some good news soon.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
