I received my welcome to the USA letter in June. It was sent to my old address.
I moved house in January, filled out the relevent change of address forms and sent them to the USCIS. I got a receipt sent back to my new address, mid jan.
I called the USCIS to inform them that they had posted my Welcome letter to the wrong address. They said that they had no new address on file. I have a receipt??!! They said that it was an ofence not to report my change of address.
My Green card has now gone missing. I now have to fill in another Change of address, and fill in another form stating that my green card was never received. What a service.......
If your green card is not returned to the USCIS by the post office. It is assumed your fault it has gone missing and you have to pay again!!

My apointment was for 10am so i arrived at 9.30 waited in the queue for about half an hour and went through security.
At reception I was given a number and told to wait. I waited for another half an hour until that number was called. I went to the window, i was asked for the relvant paperwork. The clerk was effecient, but offered no conversation. I was asked to pay for the visa and return to him with the receipt. I was then asked to sit back down and wait to be called again. My number was called almost immediately and i went back upto a different window. My Fiance was with me. The first thing i was greeted with, was who is that. My fiance replied, and was told to go away.
The lady was American and was exceptionally rude and appeared to have a serious issue with happiness. I was then asked why i had been refused entry to the USA. I explained. I was asked, Where i met my fiance. How long between the first and second meetings. If i had been to America to see him. If he, had been to the UK. How many times i had been to the USA. When did we get engaged. What did i do for a job. What did i intend to do when i was married. The quesions went on and on. She never opened the file once and was typing away like crazy as i spoke. She never smiled once. I was then told to go and pay the courier and i could go. Never once did she even say i had the visa.
Not a pleasant experience, and rather an anti climax after the big wait. |

Everything was very smooth, or so i thought. Having the Visa made the Entry very easy. Every official was polite and reasonably friendly. I was through in no time at all. A few questions and handed over the brown envelope, and on my way.
However, when i came to apply for my social security number a couple of weeks later. I was told that my I-94 was unreadable. It was returned from the USCIS as I-94 unreadable. No more explanation. Everyone kept asking what is unreadble. As i could read everything, on it i couldn't tell them. After numerous phone calls, going round and round in circles, speaking to extremely rude, unhelpful people in every department, and getting nowhere. I made an apointment on line to go see someone at the USCIS.
I checked in at receptinon in the USCIS and was told i didn't need an apt. Was told to go to another dept as my I-94 had not been stamped on entry. I was taken to the other dept. in the same building and filled in a form, handed over my passport and was told to wait. 10 minutes later another horrible representitive of the USA immigration gave me back my passport, that was now stamped and remonded me that i only had 90 days to get married.
Check your passport for stamps when you come in and check that the I-94 is also stamped. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
