It can take around 5 days for the embassy to receive your petition, so I would say that if you want, you could get the first interview date that occurs after 3 weeks from now (just to be safe). Hypothetical: embassy receives petition in 1 week from now, you schedule your medical for 2 weeks from now, and have the interview 3 weeks from now.
We waited until the embassy received it and then scheduled the medical and the interview. If we had known we could do the ds160 and schedule everything sooner... We would have... But!! Trust the process.
But don't wait for the embassy to tell you to book the medical exam and interview. They won't notify you. We waited like a week after NVC said the embassy had received it.

Last question 😂 after I fill out the ds160 and pay the visa fee. Is there anything else i need to send the NVC? Or just wait until they email me. I talked to an agent, and he said that the NVC does the rest. But they are so vague in their responses

And Ace the interview :D NVC does the rest- if you're approved, they will take your passport and let you know when to go back and pick it up (with the visa!)

I am having the same issue with the NVC! Trying to get an appointment for OFC. How long did you have to wait to get an appointment? I’ve already filled out the DS-160 & paid the fee but there are no embassy appointments.
