Embassy Review : My husband had his interview on September 18, and said it was a friendly, easy experience at the US consulate. Although he was first in, he ended up waiting a few hours before his name was called for the actual interview. He said the officer was very friendly, and asked a few short questions like, how did you meet (online), when did you first meet, what does your wife do (I've been raising our son here in the Netherlands full time while we await our immigration), asking about his joint sponsor (mother in law) a few brief questions about her. Handed him a stack of photos and said "so it was love at first sight huh" (I'm sure our photos really spoke that, we were glowing when we first met) and said that's it, you're approved! The actual interview lasted somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes.

Very smooth experience and he said the staff and officer were friendly and made him feel at ease through the whole process. It's normal to he nervous, they understand your whole life lies in their desicion! But of course if you bring all that is requested (especially original documents) and you have a bona fide marriage with a photo timeline to prove that, then half of your worries should disappear. They just want to see you are a real couple.

We were told it would take up to 10 days to get his visa/passport returned to us via PostNL, and we are on day 8 now. Time seems to have slowed to a crawl, as we had already arranged plans to leave this week, but I'm feeling a little anxious now, since we haven't even received a track & trace code yet.

Overall, a great experience, giving 4/5 stars because if they could just speed up the time it takes to have your visa/passport, that would be best case scenario, as many would like to be able to see their loved ones more quickly.

We are so excited for this next chapter of our family lives! We love America and can't wait to resume our lives in a place we both love and feel at home at!

Good luck to everyone!
