Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 15, 2019
Embassy Review : My Fiancé arrived at the embassy at 5:30am for his 6:30am appointment. At 6:30, everyone was called to the line separating immigrant and nonimmigrant applicants, and then was asked to open all seal envelops. Upon getting inside, he went through several security checks. After going through all the security check, they discovered that he mistakenly has his hair brush and data cable in his envelops and he was asked to go back all the way to the beginning of the security check. After going through all the security check twice, he went into the consular building for the immigrant interview. After getting inside, he waited for about 30mins then he was asked to submit the birth certificate, affidavit of support, tax, W2, Pay-stub, passport and passport pictures. Then went back to waiting, few mins later he was called for finger print. Then another long wait on your feet, exhausting long wait. Then finally a Caucasian woman called his number, when he got in front of her, he was asked to swear by oath, then she took few mins to go over our application.

Pick three pictures that are special to you and explain the event around the picture, also explain why the pictures were special.
Show me the pictures from her first trip and explain the events.
The consular pulse for few seconds, looked away from the computer screen and look directly into my fiancé eyes and lean forward and said “I know in every relationship there will be a time when you both argue or have different opinion, give me example of when you and your fiancée have had different opinion, how did you handled it?
How do you two communicate?
How many siblings does she has?
What is her father’s name?
My fiancé was asked a lot of questions, but he said the consular was friendly and kind. He didn’t even realize he was asked that many questions because it was like just having conversations. Our advice will be to be prayerful, be confident, know your partner very well, make eye contact when responding to the question and be respectful by responding with sir and ma. At the end the consular approved the visa and said the passport with visa will be ready within 7days.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
