Feb 12, 2007 - RFE Received from Consulate requesting proof of legal status in Canada. Faxed back copy of Canadian Passport (Bio page). Confirmation receivd from Consulate that fax was received on Feb 13, 2007
Medical done March 14. Was in and out in an hours time. I needed 2 photos one for the actual medical and I also asked for a copy for my CR1 Interview which cost me an additional $50.00 rather than having to do the medicals again.

Just got back from my trip to Montreal and figured I better post my review before I start to forget the details.
I stayed at the Omni Mont Royal Hotel on Sherbrooke. Very nice (nice with a capital N) hotel and would definitely recommend. Cost me $146 and a nice view of the city. Parlor suite I believe had one of those sofa beds but was plenty comfortable. I would rate the hotel as a 5 Star and it is less than a 5 minute drive from the consulate.
I woke up at 5.30 am. (well I could not really sleep so I should really say I was up till 5.30 am) Left the hotel at 6.20 since I was not sure about the roads and traffic. Took me about 5 minutes to get to the consulate. There is parking right in front of the building but you cannot put in money into the machine until 9am. There was no one at the consulate when I arrived and I was dying for some caffeine. Went down to Subway that I could see but it was closed. So I decided to look for a Timmys. There is one on Blvd Rene Levesque just walk towards Rene Levesque from St Alexandre and hang a right, its about a block or so from St Alexandre. I sat there and had 2 cups of coffee and took a 3rd and walked back to the consulate. Rejean (VJmember)and another woman were already waiting by this time and by the time I walked to the car to pick up my envelope and Xray, Sapa (VJmember)and another couple with a baby showed up so I was now 5th so I was pretty upset for going to Timmys but It all worked out since I was the second person to have my interview that day.
They started letting people through at around quarter to eight Security like you wouldn’t believe, worse than at the airport. But all the guards were really pleasant and never rude. I got a card with a letter and a number on it and was told to go have a seat down the stairs. About 5 minutes later we were all taken to the elevator and I pushed my way to the back knowing from VJ that the back doors open. Up to the 19th floor we went and I was first off the elevator went down the hallway passed the vending machines and gave my appointment letter with the number and was told to go to the waiting room and wait to be called. About 20 minutes later they called, said to pay the US 100 at the cashier and come back to the counter and then was asked for all my original documents along with the copies and took my prints. Was told to go back to the waiting room. This was at about 8.40 and by then I was joined upstairs by Rejean and Sapa. The first person got called in to room 7 for her interview at 9.10 and she was done by 9.16 she was approved and you could see she had tears of joy in her eyes trying to hold back her emotions. Rejean and I both noticed how she was getting impatient with the elevator and couldn’t wait to get out of the building haha
I was called next at around 9.30 to the same room 7. As mentioned so many times it’s a little room with a bullet proof glass window and the interviewer wished me and asked me how I was doing and I replied and asked him the same. Was told that I needed to be printed first and then was asked to swear an oath to tell the truth. His questions were very straight forward and put more in the form of a conversation as opposed to interrogation style which I have become so used to encountering at the border.
1) How did you two meet?
2) A few questions about my wife’s family
3) Whether there was any cultural differences, religious differences between the two of us,
4) Questions about when we met last and what we did.
5) What my wife did for a living.
Then he said everything here is in order and I am happy to inform you that you are approved for a K3 visa.
At this time someone walked into the room and we were inturrepted. After the person left he repeated what he said earlier and congratulated me and gave me information sheets on SSA and how to go about applying for a Social Security Number.
I was out of the room by 9.40 and gave the thumbs up to Rejean and Sapa and headed out to call my wife to tell her the good news.
For those going for their interview next, and I know this has been said many times before “Don’t stress it” It really is the easiest part of the whole process if you have all your documents together. They did not even ask for the supporting documents like Credit Card Statements, Phone Records, Airline Boarding passes and hotel receipts and pictures I bought along. But its always better to come prepared.
The hardest part was getting my prints to scan properly on the scanner.
