Embassy Review : |
Arrived around 10AM, interview time was 10:30AM. Was a queue when I arrived. Waited outside in the cold for almost 3 hours - apparantly there was a power cut in the morning and also 80 scouts and any US citizens renewing their passports had to go into the Embassy before any of the applicants, which was really frustrated -- every time their line filled up, they were just let straight in. I moved in the queue about 6ft in 3 hours. And I don't know if that was because people were being let in at the front or just because people in the queue were just bunching up because of the cold.
However, once I got inside it was pretty painless. Went to the first window after about 10mins sitting & waiting. Spoke to a guy who asked for the ticket I had been given, birth certificate and police certificate. Took fingerprints & asked me to goto window 12 to pay the visa processing fee. He gave me my X-rays when I got back and also the courier fee form and asked me to fill this in whilst waiting again.
Waited a further 15-20mins and filled in the form. Was called to window 15 and spoke to a nice American woman. She was really friendly. Had to do the oath thing and fingerprints again (just left hand this time). She asked a few questions - where we had met, when, how i proposed, how my parents feel, has she met my parents.
She didn't ask for any evidence - not even evidence of support. She just got me to sign forms that I had sent from packet 3 (that they asked me not to sign until interview).
Note: Evidence of support was sent with original petition by my fiancé as we thought it was required then, maybe this is why it wasn't requested at the interview, I'm not sure.
But I was surprised that they didn't ask for anything. She said she's happy to approve the visa providing my fingerprints check out Ok, or something. Then I had to go take my courier form and pay that fee. Should be with me in 3-5 working days (mon-fri).
All in all, very relieving and happy ![](smile.gif) |
