I didn’t have any issue upon arrival at the airport., the black lady who received me was very receptive and all smiling. She even made a joke by saying “you came prepared†when I told her I have a copy of my marriage certificate here with me if she wants one to serve as evidence that I’ve been married for 2yrs now. |

First of, I’ll like to seize this moment to thank everyone who have directly or indirectly guided me through this process, you guys are deeply appreciated.
So, on the said interview day, Feb 11th, 2020 to be precise, my interview was slated for 8:30am but I arrived very early, around 5:45am. By 6:30am, the security started checking people in. I naively gave my citizen wrist watch to my wife (who came around for the fifth and possibly last time to give me solidarity support during this interview process) to take home because I’ve read here where people say they don’t allow wrist watches or anything with metal (iron). For correction and for knowledge sake, they do allow normal watches but not ‘smart watches’.
So, after the security check-ins, a lady from window 21 ask for my passport, interview appointment letter, marriage and birth certificates. She took my finger prints but didn’t take pictures (passport photo) which I was expecting them to and ask us to take our seats.
Few hours later, let say about 2 hours later, I was called to the stand by a young white consular officer who I’d been wishing to be the one to interview me because he’s been approving everyone that pass through him without stress.
So, I carried my ‘big bag’ filled with documents, chat history and wedding & hangout pictures albums. He just looked at me and asked the following questions without asking me to submit any more documents (probably because I front-loaded them with a lot of documents at NVC stage)—
1. Who petitioned for you?
2. How did you two meet?
3. When did you two met?
4. When did you get married?
5. You guys married very quickly? Explain!
6. Do you have children?
7. Does your wife have children? How many are they and how old are they?
Immediately I answered the first two questions, he started typing on my case, i thought maybe he was going to deny me. In my mind, I was like if you are going to deny me, why ask me more questions? But to my surprise, he handed me three papers and said my passport with the visa will be ready for pick-up in 2weeks but my visa was issued the next day and I picked it up in two days time.
P.S. When you talk to the consular officer be confident of yourself and look them politely in the face as you speak courteously and make sure you know your spouse very well before the interview.
Thank you all once again for your guidance.

Timeline Comments: 1Have you guys heard from the NVC yet?
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
