Embassy Review : |
Vientiane Embassy was very straight forward. There's no parking spots and very limited on the side of the main street.
Everyone's interview time is set the same so its first come first serve. The security at the front door will not let anyone stand around or enter until its close to 9am. They will have you form two lines. You must have your appointment letter handy.
Once your inside, the security at front desk will check your passports. They will take your cell phone and belongings until you return. At the same time, this is how they will check you in for your appointment.
You will then proceed to the next building and take a seat until you are called. when your called to the window, the consulate will take your documents and review them while you go back to take a seat.
Once they are ready, you will be called back up for the interview which is at the window in front of others who are waiting their turn.
They will ask you what they feel is needed or advise you of any documents missing. If your documents are missing, they will advise you to come back at another date. If your approved, they will confirm your visa will be approved and you will pick up a week later.
When i went back to pick up my fiance's visa, the same process apply's except once they call you to the window, they will give your passport with visa and a brown package which is needed at port of entry into the USA. ( DO NOT OPEN THIS BROWN PACKAGE )
When my Fiance went up to interview, I was with her at the window and the consulate asked me a few questions first:
Name
Age
Work
When and how did we meet
How many times have i visited Laos
The consulate then asked my fiance the same exact questions. She answer the same.
After the questioning, the Consulate said congratulations, we're going to approve your visa today.
Not everyone who was at the interview got approved. Those who were denied or requested more documents either knew nothing about each other or did not have the documents as needed.
Preparation is very important.

Did you get NOA2?
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
