The interview went very smoothly. Our appointment was for 8.30am and we joined the queue at security around 7.50am. It took about 20 minutes to get through security and we went into the Visa section of the embassy. We were handed a ticket number by the girl at the front desk and then entered the Visa waiting area. There are lots of seats and screens showing ticket numbers and what windows are serving which numbers. We waited about 5 minutes before being called to window 1 where we met a nice lady who asked for our documentation. She also gave us the x-ray from the medical. She took Dave's fingerprints and checked our documents. She then gave us the payment slip, told us to pay at window 12, and gave us a pink sheet for the courier. We were asked to fill that out before the interview.
We paid in cash (British pounds) at window 12 and filled in the pink courier sheet. We then waiting for about another 30 minutes (from 8.40) to be called for our interview at window 15. A nice man greeted us and went through the papers we had submitted to the first lady. He asked Dave to hold his hand up and swear an oath that all the information we supplied was true. He asked me some questions about our joint sponsor (who was he? my dad) and then asked about how long I was in the UK, how long I had worked for my employer. Seemed like small talk, but as I've lived in the UK for over 6 years, probably just wanted to check that I had been working etc.
Then after stamping a bunch of the forms, he said that it all seemed in order and that we were approved for the Visa. He asked us to go to the courier desk to arrange for our delivery. The last thing he said was that the visa should be delivered in 3-5 days providing the fingerprint check went okay and if there was anything we needed to let him know about now was the time! Dave said no, and that was it.
We received his passport with the voucher in it the following morning at 8am (we had paid extra for the delivery before 8am).  |
