Comments : Went through initial pre-clearance fairly quickly, once I met the CO he brought me to secondary, where I had to wait 1hr and 15 mins to be seen, and nearly missed my flight, (4th last on the aircraft!) The "interview" was quick, and he told me that I have to get married in 90 days and that I can't leave once I adjust my status. So if I was to do it again, I'd go 4 hrs before the flight for sure.

Comments : Waited 2 hours in Federal Plaza in the Brooklyn Field Office to be called, the interview itself was good, felt very calm and light. IO took our ID's and swore us in, then asked us when and how we met, asked about our proposal, and then a few offhand questions about each other, asked me where did my wife work, asked my wife how long have I worked in my job etc, then asked me usual security questions. After them he asked for my wife's tax returns, pay stubs and w2s, my wife's and my job letters, and took the joint sponsors updated affidavit (but not my wifes) He lastly took our joint bank account details and joint utility bills, he took no photographs or anything of the sort. Then he said that everything looked good and we should hear about their decision soon and that they will review everything and let me know, but that our application looks good and gave us a letter informing us of such. Then offered us to ask him some questions to which I asked about traveling for Christmas on the AP while I wait for a decision to which he said I could. He reminded us once more that our application will most likely get approved and walked us out. A few hours later I got the email that the card is in production!

Embassy Review : Interview was scheduled for 10:30am but I received a phone cal the day before asking me to come in at 10:00am. I arrived at the embassy 15minifes early, went through the security and was sent to the consular section. Gave my name and sat down for around 39 minutes, then I was called up to give my documents and was told my photos wouldn’t be accepted due to there not having enough space above my head in the photo.

I was given a return slip and told to go to a local chemist to get the retaken.
I was back in the embassy in 10 minutes and went straight back to the window and we continued the process.

I then sat down and waited for my name to be called for the interview.

I wasn’t called until 12:45! So it was a fairly nervewracking wait but the interview itself a fairly nonevent. I was asked who petitioned for me, how did we meet, when have we met each other, he did ask me and asked every other K1 applicant for photos of us together, I had 3, he cross referenced them to the once I submitted during the petition, (he had them in a computer) he then returned my photos, packed my documents up and approved me and said my document will be returned in 10 business days!

It took 3 hours in total, which wasn’t that bad but was expecting a lot less. Also it was no privacy whatsoever. You’re talking through a window, in front of everyone, so people could hear a lot of private information. So that’s why I rate it so low.
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
