Embassy Review : |
My interview at the U.S. consulate general in Frankfurt, Germany went down smoothly. I was well prepared and so no unexpected events occurred. I was told the visa would be approved on the same day, but my passport and the visa could take up to 14 days to be delivered.
My appointment was scheduled at 9 a.m. but I was at the consulate early as I had traveled to Frankfurt through the night. At 8.10 a.m. I entered the first building without any comment that I was early. I suspect that an even earlier entry may be granted. My payment status was verified immediately after I entered the visitors hall in the second building and I was called for a review of my documents short after. The agent told me that all required documentation was present and reminded me of the conditions (entry within 6 months, stay of 90 days and requirement to file for adjustment of status). Then I waited in the sitting area of the visitors hall for my interview during which I snoozed occasionally as I was very tired from the train ride. During my interview at a counter of the visitors hall, the agent asked if I had traveled to the U.S. within the visa waiver program ESTA on every previous stay. It was more like a suggestion, which I corrected because there was no visa waiver program for my first stay in 2003. The agent asked where I met my fiancee, when and where we met last and whether we had any plans to get married. That was it :-) The agent said my visa would be approved the same day and that I could leave. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
