Consulate Review: Singapore
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 12, 2018
Embassy Review : This is how my interview at US Embassy in Singapore roughly went.

My interview was Sep 5, 130pm.

Window 7 - Singaporean male officer

He asked me some questions like:
What is your status of residency here in Singapore
Have you registered for the Aramex (courier like 2go)

Asked for the following documents:

Passport
Spass
Original MRV Payment Receipt (I did not mail the original receipt when the embassy sent me packet 3. If you send in the original receipt, he will likely not ask for this)
Birth Certificate
ROM (Singapore marriage of no record)
Divorce decree (fiance)
SG and Phils Police Cert
Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support)
Latest W2 (or tax transcript. he asked me for "tax return". i asked him is it W2 or tax transcript? he said either of the 2 will do.)
2 pcs 2x2 photos

Handed me a pamphlet about domestic violence and Aramex paper (in case they needed extra documents from me)

Window 6 - American lady officer

The lady officer asked me to raise my right. She said “do you swear that everything in this application is the truth and that all your answers to my questions is nothing but the truth?”. I said i swear. She then asked me to do fingerprinting. The machine is in front of the window. 4 left fingers first, 4 right fingers and lastly left and right thumb together.

She browsed through my file for a while. And then she turned to me and said “ok im gonna ask you some questions.”

How long have you been working in Singapore?
What do you work as?
What company do you work with?
What kind of company is that?
Where did you meet your fiance? (I answered we met initially from an online dating site called okcupid)
Did you date other guys here in Singapore?
When did you meet?
When did you meet in person?
Where did you meet?
Has he ever visited you in the Philippines or Singapore?
Why did you go to Japan to meet him? (I told her that i want to get stamps on my passport so that i can show you - embassy - that i did not overstay and i did come back to singapore)
So you have applied for a tourist visa before?
When did you apply?
And you got denied?
So after you got denied, you go to Japan to meet him?
When was the last time you see each other?
Where was the last time you see each other?
So you met each other in April of 2016 & 2017 but you haven’t met this 2018. Why is that? - I explained to her we want to use the money for wedding instead of travel
What does your fiancee do?
How much does he make a year?
How much do you make a year?
Where are you gonna live in the US?
Where are you gonna marry?
Do you have plans for the wedding?
Is your family coming? - she is looking in her screen, i guess she saw that I indicated I have immediate family in US
So your sister and your mom are in the US? (I said my mom is currently in the Phils but she is coming for the wedding)
When was the last time you saw your mom?
Have you met your fiance’s parents? (I said no but they know me)
How did they know you? (I said fb)

She was typing and checking her screen as she asks me. Then after that she said “all your documents are set, you will get your visa in a week”

She did not say the word “approve”. But she did not give my passport back and told me i am gonna get my visa in a week.

I was really really nervous. The consul officer was very stern, almost no smile at her face. She did try to trip me, and I respect that because it is her job to catch any lies. Just be honest and answer calmly. Remember, that is the consul officer's job, so do your job too by answering truthfully. Do not ever try to lie, you will perjure yourself as you are under oath and it will be in your permanent records.

Tips:
pray, pray, pray!
bring jacket, it is cold there.
phones can be left in the guard house. don't bring ipad or laptops, you can't leave those in the guardhouse.
don't bring bags with much metal, my bag was not allowed inside i left it in the guard house.

My ceac status after interview:

Sep 5 - ready
Sep 6 - ready
Sep 7 - application received, changed to non-immigrant visa
Sep 7 - administrative processing
Sep 10 - issued

I got my passport on Sep 11. I opted for collection at Aramex Chinatown.

Thanks to my fellow VJ peeps who shared infos with me. prayed and encouraged me. @CCCCCF, @Teyci, @Dedeng, @ChrissyDean. Above all, thanks, glory and honor to Jesus for hearing my prayers.
Rating : Very Good

My wife is preparing for her n400 interview st the end of the month in Spokane as well. Did the interviewing officer ask to see copies of your past Tax returns during the interview? There seems to be alot of confusion on if you need to bring them or not? They don't mention in the letter to bring them but elsewhere on the internet they mention you need to bring them.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
