Embassy Review : |
I was very nervous in the morning of my interview day on Feb 12, 2019. I arrived at the Embassy too early at 11:45 am. Then at 12:25 pm, the security guy asked all of the visa applicants to show our passports and they checked our names on their list. Passed through the security check and directly walked to the visa interview building.
A local staff called us to collect our documents. I was very nervous and my hands were shaking. The lady seemed like she was in a rush. She didn't take all of the documents I brought. I was asked to email the Embassy a IRS Tax Return Transcript. She said that they have a new additional requirement. She gave me my medical check up result, a piece of paper about FGM/C, domestic violence pamphlet and the evidences that we sent with I-129F. She told me to show those evidences to the Consular Officer (CO) if he ask.
I waited for less than 2 minutes and was called to the consular section window. My heart was beating normally, I wasn't nervous at all! The CO took my oath and my finger prints. He was very friendly and professional. The questions that were asked :
1. Who is the petitioner?
2. How did you know him?
3. When and where did you meet in person for the first time?
4. What is your fiance's job?
5. Tell me what do you know about Georgia? (I said it is warmer than Minnesota, and we laughed)
6. When is the wedding date?
The CO didn't asked me for any proof of ongoing relationship I brought. He asked me to send 2018 IRS Tax Return Transcript by email as soon as possible. I said to him that I wasn't told to bring that document and he said, yes the Embassy didn't tell the applicants yet because this was a new additional requirements. He said that my visa was 99% approved and the sooner they have the Tax Return Transcript, the sooner they would approve my visa.
Finally he said "Welcome and see you soon in America!"
I said, "Thank you very much and have a nice day Sir!" and gave him two thumbs up, he saw them, smiled and closed the window
It was one of my best days of this year. I answered all of the questions with a big smile. I can say that I had a pleasant, smooth and happy interview experience. I had my visa in 5 working days after the interview. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
