POE Review: Dublin
Event Description
Entry Date : 2018-12-06
Embassy Review : I flew from London Heathrow to Philadelphia via Dublin because not only was it cheaper but I figured it would be easier to go through Border Patrol during my layover than waiting in a long line after my flight. I went downstairs to the pre clearance where there was another quick security check where you had to remove the contents of your hand luggage and shoes (which you would have also previously done as you enter Dublin). There were 2 lines; US Citizens and Non US Citizens so I headed to the Non US Citizens line. There were quite a few officers at different desks so I only had 1 person in front of me. He called me over and I opened my passport to the page where it had my temporary I-551. I explained to him that I was entering on a CR1 for the first time. He asked how long I had been outside of the US since my last visit. He asked to see my paperwork but I hadn't any as the London Embassy requires you to submit everything electronically. He consulted his colleague and he came back and told me that he is going to take me to the back to look over the paperwork they have on file (standard procedure). When I got back, the officer behind the desk indicated to officer that was interviewing me outside that on my passport, there is an annotation that says that all my documents are online. He turned to me and giggled that I was the first person he had come across using the new system and he now knows for future. The officer behind the desk told me to take a seat and he will call me over when he is done. After 10 minutes, he called me over and said everything is fine. He stamped my passport for 2 years and told me 90 days before the expiration of the stamp is when I am to apply to remove the conditions of residency. Handed my passport back and I left. I sighed with relief as everything was over and I was finally on my last journey to the States!
