Event Description

Embassy Review : The process was very smooth. Petitioner (me!) was previously married and has 3 teenagers from previous marriage. The Interviewer did ask about the kids. Asked how we met, how long we've been together. One thing that surprised us was that the officer wanted original printed photographs! *shrug* but was overall fine with the printed ones. Approved!

The sealed envelope came ripped open all along one side. We had to send it back to Ankara. It took hours to get through to the right person to handle this matter (just called the Embassy directly). The second envelope came ripped as well! I called the San Francisco Airport's Immigration Dept and asked them if a 4 inch rip was acceptable. They gave me the number to the field office in San Fran who handles that sort of thing, i.e. when someone goes through with a ripped envelope. The man assured me that 4 inches is NO PROBLEM! The very worst thing that could happen is that the airport personnel would check for any missing paperwork and if there was missing papers then the beneficiary would have to go to the field office and "wait" until they figured everything out. Meaning Beneficiary would have to hang out in San Fran until an "interview" of sorts could take place to get all of that done. We went ahead and went through with the ripped package. NO problems!

Good Luck
Rating : Very Good

Tina We chatted before. I see the Turkish Embassy has our file. Will they email my fiance to pay fee, etc? It is currently showing READY on the CEAC website as of 12/19/18. Please help. Thanks Tramona

Hi there everyone, forgive my barging in as I don't know where to start. My daughter's fiancee is a Turkish citizen living in Rome Italy (they met while she was on vacation) She has visited him a couple times since first meet. Now they wish to get married and I don't even know where to start! I am encouraging them both to get on this website since they are both more tech savvy then me but in the meantime if anyone can help, and I mean from the very beginning! We don't even know where to start! He did just fax over his birth certificate and passport....

I did not know this section existed in VisaJourney! I still don't even know what this is or where this comment will show! haha Yes, we have had a smooth process going through Ankara Embassy. I did quadruple check everything, always, and when proof was required I was cautious and always sent a bit more than I was required to with everything. The next wait has begun for EAD. I really really hope it is more like 5 or 6 months and over. The filing of I-485, I-765 and I-131 took about 2 months longer than I anticipated. What with getting married immediately and having to track down documents over Christmas Holiday, it was dreadful! We are about 6 weeks behind what we were shooting for, but we will survive! (Thank god for tax returns :)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
