03.21.2019:

Today went well. Some tips. DO NOT sign in more than 30 minutes early. USCIS has issues with this.

Also, during your interview, DO NOT withhold. This is the time you should verbalize, enthusiastically, about your marriage. If not, this WILL cause concern and possibly more RFE's.

Our interviewer treated us very well. Understand this, these people are trained interrogators. They are looking for more information than what you provided in your records and listening for inconsistencies. If you are truthful, you'll have nothing to worry about.

At the end, she handed us a "hold for further information" sheet. This does not mean we're denied, it means there is more research on their part. I feel things went well and no one got a "PASS" today, NO ONE!!! These files are 6-8 inches thick and they will review every page. The interviewer will allow you to "hang" yourself. So, if you need to provide documentation for anything, explanations, questions, BE PREPARED WITH A LIST BEFORE YOU WALK IN!!! If you walk out and forgot to disclose something, I don't know how you could get back in there.

We hope this helps!

Consulate Review: Taipei, Taiwan
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : My fiancée, an OFW (overseas Filipina worker) followed all of the instructions to the letter. When she arrived at AIT, she went through security without a problem. Then to the first screener, the one everybody is terrified of. She scrutinized the documents and found them to be in perfect order. She was then sent to the final interviewer. He was extremely nice to her. She was asked the same question many times throughout the interview. He was satisfied and is granting her visa.

My fiancée, being a Filipina, did not experience any discrimination from the Taiwanese people, in or out of the embassy, ever. She has always been treated with the utmost respect and she demonstrates the same.

My suggestions are:

1. Make sure it's a real relationship. The embassy is really screening for the fakes.
2. Ensure your documents are in order. AIT provides you a list, follow it precisely.
3. Treat the staff the way you want to be treated.

That's it. It's all common sense once you get to this stage. I'd like to mention the appointment prior to my fiancée's showed up with the wrong size pictures. The embassy interviewer directed that girl across the street, with instructions, then allowed her back in to complete her K1 interview.

Overall, the AIT experience was very professional.

UPDATE:

AIT says 3-5 business days to process if approved. Do not count on that. We did get it but it took a little longer. Originally, they switched us to "Administrative Processing" which can take up to 60 days. Do not make travel arrangements until that visa is in hand.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
