Local US CIS Office Review: New York City NY Review Topic: cis_topic Event Description Review Date : February 4, 2018 Embassy Review : I had my interview yesterday, 02/01/2018 (PD 02/15/2017). All in all in went really well although my husband forgot the date of our wedding . We've been married for over three years so I wasn't surprised as he's horrible with dates. Our interview was scheduled for 2:05 and we arrived at 1:33 and went through the whole TSA security type entrance. (Save a few seconds and wear shoes that are easy to take off!!) We turned in our interview notice and waited to be called at 2:30. We were last to be interviewed by that particular officer that evening. It was truly more like a conversation and we barely had any hard evidence besides for joint savings account that was about 6 months old with very little money in there but with regular deposits, our travel itineraries from our vacations, a few pictures and a printouts from our bank account showing that we transferred money back and forth in lieu of a joint checking account. We were in there for about 20 minutes. After we spoke about the most random things she asked about our story and took some notes. We then veered of to some more random topics again until she realized the time and forgot she had to get to work lol. It really boils down to you having a genuine relationship as body language and all the other nuances are just as important as documents. Not having a huge file doest not mean an automatic denial if the officer can tell that you're being truthful. To end it all, she said that she pretty much approved us but had to run it by her supervisor because we didn't have that many documents. She did tell us that in all honestly that it was just a formality as they are allowed to make decisions just based on how the interview goes, they just have to get the final stamp of approval from someone higher up. We left and were cautiously optimistic buuuuuuttttt this morning I got the email that the card was being produced!!! Woohooo!!! My advice to anyone, just go in being honest and everything tends to work itself out. Of course you'd need to have evidence showing that you really are a true married couple, but if you are like me and my husband who rarely remember to document everything, that in itself is not an automatic denial.
