Interview was Dec 19, 2018 and he was 2nd to last one to be interviewed for that day. We prepared our evidence as a continuation of what we provided in our petition. We even brought additional photos of the engagement (the only evidence the CO looked at), b/c my fiancé was adamant that we did nothing wrong and he was proud of our day. He also wore his engagement ring.
The CO was a white male in his 30’s and very irritated by the previous interview that went bad and ended with the beneficiary yelling at the Consular Officer.
His interview was 5mins.
He was asked:
- How we met? (started with short version and was asked to elaborate)
- What does he do for work? (got a steady job only two months before the interview)
- Asked when we had our engagement party. Wanted to see the additional pictures. Asked who the people were.
- Asked if my mom was at the party.
- Asked if we want to have children.
- Asked what he will do in America.
Then he was told congratulations, you’re approved. They kept his passport and he was not given a 221g, only the “Welcome to America†paperwork. He was told he would get the visa in 2 weeks.
We celebrated, but the next day my fiancé got a phone call from the Consulate and was told they were going to send him “some questions†via email. The email was the DS-5535, which took 13mos to process. Visa received and he’s here now.

He's was out of the terminal roughly one hour after the airplane landed. First flight and first time through immigration and said everyone was very helpful and respectful. |

Pretty straightforward. Were asked almost immediately about his police record and then asked a few questions of each other about each other, what's his DOB, where was I born, they also asked us both to tell him where the other worked and what we did. The wait time was about 90mins and entire interview took 20mins. |

We were able to expedite during the pandemic because I had to go back to work but with limited hours. We applied under financial hardship. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
