Comments : once we arrived we both went to the machines to get the ticket which we gave to the officer. we were then put into the visitor line because of my fiance. We were greeted by a Caucasian male about 50 to 60 years old named freedman he asked us for the packet given to us when we picked up the passport. He had my fiance give fingerprints and then put us in a little room they looked at the paper work and typed some information then asked me to confirm my full name and then we were okay to leave the room and pick up our luggage.

Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 3, 2018
Embassy Review : our interview was on February 23rd 7am
I the petitioner arrived 2 days prior to the interview to the Dom Rep. to make sure all paper work was perfect and final.
well it results that my fiance was unable to obtain his good conduct police certificate due to computer problems. we decided to go to the interview without it and explain the situation.
We live in the capital about 45 min away from the consulate. Our interview was at 7am so we decided to wake up at 4 to take showers and get ready and left the house at about 5 Am. We got to the consulate around 5:45-5:50 Am we parked the car for about 200 pesos this you pay once you officially leave the lot. the consulate is about 5 min away from the lot. There were many Buscones one came up to us and offered to help and asked us if we were sure we had all the papers we needed. We just ignored them. once we got to the consulate we asked the officer which line we should get on. (there are many lines, one for disabled people and babies, others for tourist visas, and ours the immigrant visa line). Luckily we got there at 5:55 we were 3rd or 4th in line. about 5 min later there was a huge line behind us. we waited till about 6:30 that's when they started to let people in. We were the first line to get checked we were asked for the appointment letter and passport we were told to stand in a line near the doors. We were let in about 5-10 min later the line moved fairly quickly. That's when you have to pass by the metal detectors. We took everything out of our pockets and placed it in the same bin went through the metal detectors and took our stuff. there we had to pass through another door to this outdoor area (its very beautiful) once inside we were stopped with a line in front of us we were asked for out appointment letter and passport once again. we then received our number. Number 38. Anyone accompanying the beneficiary was told to have a seat until they were called to the first window. people in white shirts were instructing us which window to go to. we were later sent to window number 19. My heart was going crazy i was so nervous once i got to the window even though i knew this wasn't the interview. we were asked for all or papers. ( good conduct paper, passport, medical results, appointment letter, DS160 and 1 picture 2x2 of beneficiary) we explained our situation as to why we didn't have the good conduct letter. He said ok no problem once you are called up to the interview just let the person know the same. He asked us a couple questions.

Have you guys ever been married before to other people?
Have you ever been divorced?
Do either of you have any children apart? or together?

He opened up the medical results and handed us the papers we gave to him except the results he actually gave us the folder the papers we in. He typed a bit on the computer and that's when he said OK you guys can have a seat between windows 1-10 that's were you will be called for the interview.

we had a seat right in front of window 9 we waited probably about 20 min we were a bit nervous and didn't want to miss the number at this point numbers were being called randomly but this time it was displayed on a tv. We both read the domestic violence pamphlet given to us by window number 19. We each went to the bathroom very quickly. About 10 min after coming from the bathroom that's when he notices our number being called to window number 8. We approached the window and each said good morning. On the other side of the window was a woman between the age of 25 and 30 she looked a bit Hispanic and had black hair.

This is when she instructed my fiance to put his fingers on the machine in order to take his fingerprints. Since my fiance and I introduced ourselves in Spanish that's the language we were interviewed in. She instructed us to both lift our right hands and promise that all information given is truthful we both agreed.

Then the questions started. She asked my fiance most of the questions.

Where did you guys meet?
My fiance explained that we meet while I was on vacation at my grandmothers house, he was actually working and just so happened to pass by. he mentioned that his happened in 2015.
The CO then said oh 2015 and then asked me how many time i had traveled to visit him once we met i said 6 times total.
The CO then asked how did you guys keep in touch my fiance responded and said we Facetime use Whatsapp and Facebook etc.

She asked him if he had ever been in trouble with the law he said no

she then asked were I stayed when I came to the Dom Rep I said that I stayed with him.

The CO then asked him what I do for a living in the Untied States. he answered saying that I just finished high school and now work at a gym.

she then made a general question to either of us asking what we planned to do once he traveled to the US we both answered saying that we wanted to get married in city hall on the 7th of April and later on once he had his residency we would travel back to the Dom Rep to have a small family gathering in celebration.

she then proceeded to say everything looks great but i'm just missing the good conduct letter. we then explained why we didn't have it. she said ok there is no problem. I just need you guys to send it in and once we see that everything is good with that piece of paper we will approve your petition.
she then handed us a piece of paper stating the document we missed and were we could track our passport once finally mailed out

we were out of the consulate by 8:15am

we were able to contact a friend that helped us get the good conduct letter that same morning by going down to the Minstery Public Relations Office.

we drove down to Mega Centro where we had put that we wanted to pick up our passport we dropped it off that same morning about 8:45 am. And we have proceeded to wait. due to the Dominican independence day there was a holiday right in the middle of the week. and the consulate finally received the passport on the 1st of March now we just wait for processing.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
