Hey Guys!! Had our interview today and approved!! Thought Id write a review to help others along the way!
I live (atm) in Adelaide so flew into Sydney Monday afternoon to make sure nothing went wrong stayed at Travelodge Martin Place which was ehhh mainly because they buggered up our booking but had a bed so thats the main thing
Our appointment was at 10:20 so about 9:30 i wondered around to the building (dead easy to find!) and grabbed a coffee in the arcade underneath to kill a bit of time.
At 10am i entered the MLC building and went up to the 10th floor. Now this is where i buggered up i knew we couldn't take laptops in so never brought it to Sydney with me but what i didn't know was the you CANNOT BRING iPads, any phone charger, anything with a battery or anything with a microchip. This was a PITA to be honest as my backpack had a Q Tag from QANTAS and id obviously taken a phone charger with me so I had to "hire" a locker for the whole 30min i was there ($15). I ended up just locking up my phone as well - which they make you turn off if you do bring it in.
So after that drama I went through the door to begin the security screening. They grabbed all my papers and did a quick pull apart and sort to place inside a plastic sleeve and handed me the pamphlet to have a read of before my appointment (already did prior to going) and i progressed to the x-ray/metal detector. There I had to remove my wallet from the bag, along with anything metal or electronic. They actually picked up my epipen which i obviously carry and wasn't allowed to take it upstairs (not a big deal) and ironically they wouldn't let me take my water up but i think that was because it was in a drink bottle rather than a clear water bottle (again no biggie).
I then was given a tag that assigned to the cubby that was bag was placed in.
Next stop was a set of seats to wait for an elevator and as soon as my butt hit the chair i was directed around to the lift.....
That extremely rapid ascent was kinda painful on the ear drums lol.
As i came out the lift, you are briskly directed around to the left and right and then up to "the door"...that thing is not heavy lol, i don't know what people were talking about! Its no heavier than a normal door lol.
Next you grab a ticket from the machine just to the right as you look inside the room....number 230. I literally had sat down for maybe 10 seconds when i was called to window 2. There the lovely ladies grabbed all my paperwork and sorted it and then handed me back a few extra pieces of paper and most of the supporting documentation from my Aff of Supp saying i only needed the Fed Tax Return, not the 12 months of bank statements we were originally told; and i had my fingerprints taken.
I then returned to my original seat and waited for my turn.
I have to say there were a few people i knew already from my medical and we all sat there "listening" to the other people having their turns.
There was a poor young girl who got denied while we were sitting there and they were tough on her with the questions, really trying to trip her up on dates or getting her to admit she was working at her fiance's family restaurant but we all agreed there was something fishy that we had obviously missed because pretty much everyone else was breezing through. My mates all got called up in turn and came away with an approval and then it was my turn.
The CO that interviewed me was quite stern at first and once id done my oath and fingerprinting again he asked me "how i met my fiance" "how many times id visited" "had he come" "what does he do" and because i am an RN "do i plan to work there".
Then he smiled and said everything was good and i was approved "internal happy dance" and i was done. They said my passport would be 1-2 weeks and so now i wait
Good luck everyone |

Ok background I left Adelaide South Australia at 8am on 12th April and finally arrived in Dallas FW at around 1pm on 12th April (local time).
I had planned to overnight in Dallas just in case my entry took longer than normal as there is only one further flight out after my normal one and well, i am a planner.....totally didnt need it lol, in fact it took less time than it would have lining up to go through the normal electronic passport control....
As i entered the "hall" after disembarking the plane i had to head all the way down the other end (grey line) to line up to hand over my stuff. There was one other person entering here and 3 immigration officer so i waited maybe 20 seconds. I handed over my passport and yellow envelope and he opened it. He quickly ran through the contents and pulled out the medical stuff, took my fingerprints and then asked me if my fiance was with me. I explained he wasnt, he was waiting for me at the other end and he seemed a little surprised. He basically smiled at me, said "get married within 90 days" and then said "Welcome to the USA" and stamped my application.
Simple!!
I then flew out of Dallas the next morning and that was it |

Timeline Comments: 1 C90 on 2019-03-14 said: Did you have your AOS expedited? I'm a Philly filer too (September 2018) and your timeline is the only one that had an interview within 9 months. Wondering if the processing times are going down a little.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
