We used Etihad airways so we had the POE processing occur in Abu Dhabi. After landing in Abu Dhabi, we went through the special security screening for US bound planes and immigration officers at Abu Dhabi airport. The immigration officer asked me for the envelope which we did not have because this was a pivot case. He seemed to think we should have it and then he looked at the screen and said sorry, you are all set. He then led us to a waiting room and told us to wait until called. He took both my wife's passport and mine. Then they called me in for a short interview (basic questions like where do i work etc.) My wife (beneficiary) waited in the waiting room. Then I went back and we waited some more. They then called both of us to another desk and they provided me with some basic info like when the green card will arrive etc and returned our passports. Then we continued on towards the gate. With the processing happening in Abu Dhabi, we just collected the baggage in NY city and left the airport. The whole process took 30 min in Abu Dhabi. Since arriving here 3 weeks ago, my wife has already received her GC (3 weeks even though they said 3 months) |

The interview was pretty simple. Just some questions right from the application ….things like verifying names, Date of Births, social security number of my wife, date of marriage etc. She very briefly reviewed the supporting docs we had brought with us and compared to some stuff we had sent in as part of the application. One thing to remember doing is to bring a copy of the originals. Most of our supporting documents were printouts but there were some originals (bills, passports, id's). Be sure to bring a copy of these. She went and made copies of the passport/ids but wasn't very happy about it. Otherwise she was polite and the interview lasted about 15 minutes. She said card will arrive in 30-45 days! Is that accurate? Also, received the email that card is being produced

Interview was way more detailed than it needed to be for a citizenship interview. The interviewer seemed like he was taking a green card interview instead of a citizenship interview. He asked question like how did your spouse entered the US, where does he work, what company does he work for and so on. At the end of it, he told me to go and wait outside for "scheduling" a oath date...When I got outside, they said to wait and the oath ceremony would be held at 2 PM...I dont know if he was not used to taking citizenship interviews or what.... |

Embassy Review : |
Our visa was approved from the Islamabad, Pakistan Embassy on the 8th. We arrived at the embassy around 7 and the process started at about 8. We were called at the first window to get a token number after they saw our interview letter. Then we sat down and were called at the second window to submit finger prints after a few minutes. Then waited again for a few and were called to another window to submit key documents (Nikah Nama (Urdu), Nikah nama Nadra, birth certificate, passport, Passport photos). We were then called to a fourth window for the actual interview. The interview was straightforward and included a few basic questions. I accompanied my wife to each window and we were not interviewed independently nor was I told to go take a seat by the interviewer.
From my wife (Beneficiary):
1: Who is sponsoring you?
2: Was this an arranged or love marriage?
3: Who arranged it?
4: Are you cousins?
5: Can I see some marriage pictures?
6: What do you want to do when you go to the US?(work)
7: What do you do over here?
8: Have you ever traveled outside of the country before?
From me (Petitioner):
1: What do you do in the US?
2: Where do you live in the US?
From both of us:
1: Was either if you divorced before?
2: Do you have any kids together?
After that she told us that our case was approved and to collect the passport from designated place in 2 weeks. However, its just been two days and I got two calls from the place you get the passport from today. I was not able to receive the calls but I am guessing that the passport may be ready. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
