Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 19, 2018
Embassy Review : First things first, don't be nervous. It was a super smooth process!

Ok, so our interview was for 7 am, we arrived at 6:30 am. You cannot take in cellphones or makeup of any kind so please keep this in mind. Before allowing us in the building, the embassy employee asked to see my fiance's DS 160, passport, and appointment confirmation. He asked me if I had my US passport (which I did) but he never asked to see it. We then went through security and through a courtyard until we came to the building where the interview would be held.

All in all it was a pretty easy and organized experience. We arrived at 6:30, had about 20 cases in front of us, got through security, the initial paper submittal, waiting and interview in less than 2 hours. At 8:30 we were already sitting in the cab on the way back to our airbnb and practically floating, haha.

Don't be nervous. Be honest and be comfortable in the fact that if you have a real relationship - you'll be fine!

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2018-03-18
Embassy Review : We got to US Customs, made the line and were called up to an agent. He asked if this was his first time in the country (yes) opened the sealed envelope and looked it over. He then walked my fiance over to the private office where he sat and waiting for like 10 minutes. He was behind 3 other people, who were all asked a few questions. After the others left, the agent called my fiance's name, handed him his passport and he was on his way.

We went through security just fine and got home in time for breakfast!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
