Local US CIS Office Review: Indianapolis IN Review Topic: cis_topic Event Description Review Date : November 20, 2017 Embassy Review : Reached about 30 minutes in advance. Was called in for an interview 15 minutes ahead of time. Interview went on for about 30 minutes. Straightforward questions were asked. Most of the questions were directed towards the petitioner ( my wife). Questions were on the lines of where we met. Have we lived together before (we both went to school in Texas and then moved to Indiana). Asked our addresses, phone numbers, date of birth etc. Asked me about when I would be completing my Phd and when wife would finish her pharmacy school. Chuckled saying that we are just two broke students. Asked me a bunch of yes/no questions from i-485. One blunder was that we only took the first page of the joint account statements (Please take all the pages). The officer told me she would not have accepted the application if I had not turned in the proof of our travel together abroad. Asked us to get all the photos out of our album and turn it in. She asked my wife questions about each photo. She took all our supporting documents like joint tenancy, insurance etc., took my finger prints, took a photo of me using her webcam (asking me not to smile) and asked us to wait for a few minutes while she reviews. In about 2 minutes she printed out a form saying the petition was approved and handed it to my wife and congratulated us. One final blunder I did was that I asked for the I-551 stamp on my passport. She said she would but asked me why. I was so nervous that I did not have an answer. She told me she cannot just go around stamping the I-551 for no reason. She then asked me if I will be looking for jobs. I said yes. She then laughed and told me she would stamp it and asked us to wait in the lobby outside. She gave me the stamped passport and told me that I would be receiving the green card in the mail soon anyway and asked me to follow the instructions in the mail on how to remove the conditions. So finally it's done (atleast free for couple more years from this). I got approved for my green card in about 2.5 months from my first NOA. Things are going faster than expected, so I would say good luck to all the applicants. I am sure you will be receiving very good news pretty soon. Harassment Level : Very Good
