Comments : Took FOREVER and then they scheduled it on our wedding anniversary so we had to cancel a bunch of plans...they also complained that I didn't have USC's tax records but we did have documents showing we sent them in, agent complained but let us through, we hammed up the anniversary that day to her hahah ugh. Also, USCIS office was hot and dizzying, 80 degree day.

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 6, 2020
Embassy Review : Flew from Vancouver (cried when I found out the Vancouver office was closed..I didn't know..this is so cruel to make us pay $1000 to fly here, open Vancouver again!) and drove in from Toronto (family there) in a snowstorm (early April 2019). Most BEAUTIFUL city, I recommend you try and stay two nights just to make the best of it, eat French pastries, bagels, montreal smoked meat sandwiches, drink some wine, go to a sucrerie!

The interview itself was nerve wracking and surreal, but a breeze. Had an early time slot (8?) and was the last on the first load up in the elevator (buttons for floor 1, and 19..we went to 19, it was spooky only seeing those two buttons! I thought to myself "We're not in Canada anymore!"). I waited for 45 nerve wracking minutes (I chose not to read, I wanted to keep my mind focused on what I was doing) and watched the 15 people in front of me go down a narrow badly soundproofed hall and come out either happy, or serious...with a pink slip, or not D: I saw 1 or 2 not get their slip..they looked upset when they took the elevator down (you don't need any special permission to leave, but they herd you around to enter). It was really neat seeing all the different types of people immigrating, and also the other side of the room where Canadian living USC came in to do paperwork. The lobby I waited in on floor 19 was tense, but also kid friendly, and a quiet and emotional understanding even in the staff that this was a big day for all of us.

PRO TIP: I sweated so much in my waiting room plastic chair...I was dressed up and dressed warm, not a breathable combo! At least bring a big cozy sweater if you are going to wear stockings and polyester like I did so, so you can sit on it and you don't leave a pool of nervous sweat haha!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
