Embassy Review : |
*I am the petitioner, writing this on behalf of my fiancé, the beneficiary who went for the interview.*
His interview was this morning, May 8th (exactly 10 working days after his medical). He was scheduled for a 10AM appointment, and arrived at the Embassy at 9:20AM.
Said that it was easy to find, and that Google Maps actually made it more complicated, as it wanted him to circle around. He went to the "welcome desk" at the South Pavilion Consular Services Entrance, where a friendly woman checked his DS-160 and passport. He then went through the airport-style security and entered the main building, where there are separate queues for appointment times that are on the hour and half past the hour, and workers who check your paperwork for visa type. He had stickers applied to his paperwork, and was directed to the first floor.
He was seated for less than 5 minutes when his number flashed on the screen, and he went to the first window to provide his documents (passport, passport-style photo, I-134, DS-160, birth certificate, police certificate) and biometric information. They only needed one passport-style photo, not two, and did not need the updated letter of intent to marry, as our case hadn't expired.
After providing those documents, he sat down and waited for just 10 minutes before being called to a second window for his interview. He was asked to raise his right hand and swear an oath. The officer was nice enough, and asked a few basic questions:
- How and when we meet;
- When did my fiancé visit the US and for how long;
- When did I visit the UK, and for how long;
- What I do for work;
- What our wedding arrangements were (date and location); and,
- Had he met my parents.
He was then informed that his medical results had not yet arrived from Knightsbridge, but that they should be arriving this week. The officer said that everything else was fine, and that my fiancé's visa would be issued within a week or two of receiving the medical results!
Overall, the embassy experience and interview were extremely simple. My fiancé left wondering why he was so stressed. Everyone was kind and helpful. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
