Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 20, 2018
Embassy Review :
Interview Date: September 16 2018
Hotel: Premiere Inn Capital Centre
>I checked in day before the interview on the 15th.
TIP: Book directly from their website and you can check in from 0900 and check out by 1800 the next day.
I arrived at the hotel by 1000hrs and they welcomed me warmly and was informed that I was given the privilege since I booked from their online website. Awesome!
Hotel was 15mins walk from the embassy and a short 3-4 mins taxi ride.
Taxis are ready at the ground level.
Zoom Grocery was readily accessible it was 24hrs open and you can buy everything in there. From grocery items to prepacked meals (which was very helpful to me since I didnt purchased hotel breakfast) and school items as well.
Costa coffee shop is also there and you get a buy one get 1 free coffee when you're checked in at the hotel (pls check promos if still valid)
Overall, the hotel experience was awesome.

Interview Day:
I only brought a paper bag and put all my documents in there, cash on my pocket and my phone with me.
I arrived by 645 in the morning, lined up at the immigrant section benches and was 3rd in the line. By 745 the guard let us in and was asked to bring out appointment letter, passport and ds 160. Lined up again and presented this one by one to a small window just beside the door and we got through the first checkpoint.
At the first checkpoint, passed through the scanner and guards will asked me to leave my phone and I was given a token.
I was then directed to the next building (actual consular offices). At the next bldg, the guard again asked for my passport appointment letter and ds160. It is where immigrant and non immigrant applications will bus sorted. I was given a number and was asked to seat and wait.
0810 my number was called at window 7: Documents checking. I was asked for my APPOINTMENT LETTER, BIRTH CERT ORIG AND COPY, DS160, PASSPORT, POLICE CLEARANCE AND CLEARANCE FROM HOME COUNTRY, AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (I handed everything I have from my fiancé: affidavit of support, w2s and ITR from 2015-2017, paystubs, cert of employment, consular of birth abroad, passport copy) I also told the officer that I have a co sponsor (just to be prepared) and he said that he will check first if we need it. He then said that we don't need a co sponsor. So I kept the documents. He then gave back my original BC, w2s and ITR 2015-2016, paystubs and cert of employment. He just took the Affidavit of support and 2017 ITR and w2s. (They never asked for my packet 3 and letter of intent btw) then I was asked to sit again and wait.
around 0845 I was called at window 12 to do the biometrics. and was asked to sit again
0910 I was asked at Window 8 for the final interview
The Co was very nice he asked me to raise my hand for some oath then some fingerprint scanning then we went on to the interview itself
The interview was very random and I felt like he was just speaking in a friendly manner to me he was smiling all the time and he was very calm
questions: Tell me about your fiancé
How did you meet
When kind of relp you had before and now
How do you communicate
How'd you reconnected
When was the time you felt the romantic connection
Did you meet his parents
Do our parents know each other before - was asked to show of our parents together
How'd he obtain the citizenship
Where he is working and what is his work
When was the engagement and where. - was asked to show me other engagement photos apart from the pics we've submitted on the initial packet
Trips we've went with together
How many times and the dates he visited me here in UAE, how many times we've met, the duration of the meeting
Have I visited the US
Countries I lived apart from home country and UAE
Countries Ive travelled to
What I do here in UAE and the date and year I started living here in UAE
My previous visa application
What are our wedding plans
If I plan to work in the US, what kind of work. Do I already have the license to work in my field. I said yes and he told me "very good"
Where my fiancé is living, who he lives with.
Address where ill live in the US
If we have plans to get our own home/space.
FINALLY he said: Everything looks good (while closing our file and scribbling some notes), ill process your visa this afternoon and the local post will contact you in 2-3 days to collect your visa. Congratulations! He then handed me the white papers. I gathered everything said thank you so much and get out quickly before he remembers to ask me questions again. HAHA

Yes he actually has tons of questions and I felt like I was bombarded cause it was never ending haha What I actually expected was just a small talk as what I can see on reviews online. However, if you know your fiancé and you know what you've written in your ds160. Youll sure be fine!

Hope this helps and best of luck to everyone!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
