Embassy Review : |
The consular that interviewed us was very pleasant. It didn't even felt like an interview - more like a relaxed conversation even though it was very short. She said our interview will go down on record as the fastest interview she has ever conducted.
She asked us only 2 questions.
1st question she asked my fiance was - what kind of work he does.
2nd question was if he had kids. He said yes. I jumped in and said we have 2 together and told her their ages. She then closed the file and said "this interview is over. If you both have kids together there is nothing else to say to convince me about your relationship." She said the visa will be ready by the end of the week to early next week.
Our interview might not be helpful to a lot, so I am going to note a few things I observed while I was there that may be helpful.
We had a 9:45 interview - the line outside wasn't that long and it kept moving. There were some ladies that were checking documents and telling what to keep out and what to put away. Only your passport and DS 160 confirmation page and appointment sheet were needed at this point. The security kept making announcements on what is not authorized to bring inside the embassy. Here is what I can remember - no:
Tail combs (or anything that can cut, poke or stick such as nail file or clipper etc..)
liquids (in any form)
Make up ( lipstick, eye shadow, or any kind of powered stuff)
hand sanitizers (wipes are OK)
electronics (phones, tablets, camera, thumb drive etc....)
After going through the security check point we had to join another line where the lady took the appointment sheet and gave us a number and a registration form for DHL. We had already registered online but she said she was going to give us nonetheless. Those who are applying for non-immigrant visas were told to have a seat outside - immigrant visa applicants were directed inside. We found a seat and waited for my fiancé's name to be called. They collected the documents (affidavit and supporting documents, passports) and told us to wait for his name to be called again for the interview. The interview I mentioned above.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
