Embassy Review : Well guys, we attended our interview today!

Everything went fine in the end of the day but here it's the catch...

I am Finnish so I am used to people to be cold, distant and short. But our IO was rude towards me and my lawyer...in one moment it felt like she wasn't going to approve us and I was going to be send home!!!!

The interview was relative short 15 minutes max!

We delivered our interview notice in the main desk and we waited to be called (2 minutes), we entered to the office and the first thing that we were asked were Identifications; we swore to say the truth and we were asked to be seat.

She asked about our names, addresses, date of wedding and dates of birth.

She asked about my last entry, and asked for my passport to check my VISA. It's when everything started to get weird and ruder. I overstayed my VISA for circumstances that I cannot explain at this point. So she asked why I overstayed, she asked about if I worked here, if I used fake names, ID or any other kind of documents (I didn't) so she started to yell ''So you are ILLEGAL, you stayed here without permission and you will be send home'' I felt like I was going to faint and everything was done. Our lawyer took action and said ''Marring a USC the overstay automatically is waved" and she yelled ''WE SHALL SEE", our lawyer say ''It's the law'' and she started to laugh! It was so bizarre!!! , me and y spouse started to freak out and she keep coming with more and more question about papers. Nerves started to kick in and we couldn't find some papers that we were asked to...finally we found them.

She checked our papers and said ''If I approve your petition will be a conditional 2 year G.C and you will have to file for remove conditions, so she gave us a paper to sign''

She asked us to answer a few questions about the forms that we filed, and finally she said I am gonna take some copies y'all can wait in the lobby. She got out like 4 minutes later with my social, ID, EAD and Passport. She concluded with this comment ''Y'all should know something in a few days, check your mail'' and she left!

She never asked to see our pics, cards, marriage certificate, birth certificates or anything!!

At that point I was at the border of the tears because I thought it was done for us! Our lawyer calmed us down, and said ''Guys you were fine and y'all will be approved. The IO was rude but y'all be fine"

After a long hour and a half...with all the fear we checked the page on USCIS and we found out we were approved! We were so relieved and so glad that experience was over!

I wish everyone the best of the luck, I am just very glad that is over! BTW Our lawyer said that usually IO's are super nice an professionals but this one was one of the worst. So guys don't get afraid and y'all be honest and strong!

I wish no one has to go through the interview with an IO like ours!!

My experience was very stressful but at least she did her job! Just don't take anything personal!
Harassment Level : Very Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
