Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 19, 2017
Embassy Review : My interview schedule was at 7:10AM but didn't get inside for the interview until around 8:00. First interview with Filipino consul went well, he was nice and raised a concern about our case (my petitioner fiance has never lived in the US so no domicile, which he said would be an issue) but he tried his best to include notes in our case file on the computer, noting that my fiance and I will leave for NYC in Sept 30th, and my fiance has school starting on Oct 2.

The interview with the American consul went perfectly fine. My fiance was with me but he just stood behind me while I was interviewed. Consul asked the typical questions about how we met, how long we've been together, he asked about my travels and my US tourist visa (he took it so he can cancel it if I get approved for K1), asked me about my work. The entire interview with the American consul took about 10 minutes, but it was mostly because he was looking at our case file on his computer. He asked me a total of maybe 5 questions. He never brought up affidavit of support but instead said, "So I guess you have no problem with working abroad? (I'm a blogger so I can work legally anywhere)" I said, "No " and then he said, "You won't be on welfare in the US?" and I said "Haha, no of course not." it was very light hearted... and then he said we were approved.

Entire interview process lasted from 7:10 - 9:00 AM. Mostly spent waiting to get inside the interview areas.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
