Comments : The line at customs took like an hour, as per usual. Once it was my turn, they took my fingerprints and picture and asked me the reason for my visit. I told them I had a k1 visa (I thought they would see it on my passport, but I guess they didn't). The guy asked for my packet and took me to secondary.

I was there for maybe 3 mins. There was nobody there (we landed at 10pm) so I didn't have to wait at all. Guy told me that I had 90 days to get married and told me I was good to go. No questions asked.

Interview was easy and quick. Afterwards, the officer told us they were missing my medical and that it was at another office so they had to wait to get it before approval. Approval took almost a month.

Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 7, 2018
Embassy Review : My appointment was at 11:30am, as they usually are. I got there by 11am and asked if it was too early to go inside. They told me it was fine and checked that I was on the list. I went through security, where they only kept my phone. They let me go inside with my big purse, which had a water bottle and candy (I really thought they would take those away from me...). They sent me upstairs, where the actual embassy is. There wasn't anybody in the first room, so I awkwardly waited for like 10 seconds as I was unsure what to do. A lady asked me why I was there and handed me a paper with a number (btw they treat k1s as an immigrant visa). They also asked for my passport and attached a thingy to it.

I waited in the next room with maybe 3 more people. I was called shortly after, like 3mins. They checked all my paperwork and handed me all originals I had submitted. This took like 15mins since apparently the heat and hot water are broken and employees are rightfully angry about it (I could hear everything they were saying behind the window).

They told me to sit down again. I was called like 5mins later for the interview. Interview was like 3mins. They asked me how i met my fiance, when and why we went the k1 router, instead of "just getting married", and whether I had been arrested or married before. I said no to both. She took my fingerprints and handed me a paper that said to wait for my visa in 4-6 business days. And that was it! I was out by 11:40am.

I should be giving it 4 stars because heat and hot water are broken and that delayed my approval by 10mins. And also, they should have heat and hot water! Fix it! :P (seriously though, experience was great - everyone was nice and everything went very smoothly).
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
