First off I would like to say thank you to everyone who has written a review, it for sure helped me prepare or shall I say over prepare haha.
I picked the first slot for my interview so I arrived 40 minutes before and went to the starbucks across the street to help calm my nerves haha. I would suggest standing in line 30 mins before your interview as alot of people picked the first slot and a long line was forming before I got there. Also do not bring anything extra with you, just your paperwork and cellphone (you will need to hand over your cell phone when going through security) A lady behind me came with her purse and they made her fiancee take it back to their hotel room.
People are let in one by one and you are greeted by a staff member who requests to see your passport and the paper showing your scheduled interview date. Once the person reviews it they print out a sticker and put it on the back of your passport, as well as give you a lamented number and sheet with how you should prepare your documents, I had already put mine in a binder with tabs so I left as is. You are then sent through the security screening area, just like at an airport, and that is where you hand over your cell phone and you will be given a number to retrieve it once you are done with your interview.
Then you walk down a flight of stairs into a very dingy waiting room where they give you time to prepare your documents if you wish, if you did not have them organized in a binder with tabs I suggest you follow the lamenated sheet. After about 10 mins a staff member comes down and gathers everyone up and ushers you into the large elevator that takes you up. There is a large room with a bunch of chairs and you just sit there and wait till your number is called. my appointment was for 7AM and I was not called till after 8AM for the first part. The man at the window was very business like, not unfriendly but just doing his job. He took all my documents and then took my fingerprints. They never asked for the bank letter, pay stubs, employer letter or proof of domicile. They didnt ask for evidence of our relationship either.
I then had to sit down and had to wait a bit till I was called for my interview. I was greeted by the sweetest lady and she for sure put me at ease. The interview was so quick 5 minutes max. She asked me how we met/ou time together and then cut me off half way through and smiled and said I can tell this is 100% real and I would like to be the first person to welcome you to the United States. I studdered and said you dont want to hear anything else or see our photos haha - I was so proud of the photo album I put together. She said no all is good and then told me my rights as an immigrant and that I would have my visa in 2 weeks, but probably faster. ( I got mine in 3 days) I started crying haha tears of joy of course.
I walked out smiling ear to ear and my friend met me outside and we popped some champagne and celebrated.
This was by far the easiest part, I heard this MULTIPLE times before but didnt believe it but it really was the easiest. If you prepare all the paperwork on your checklist and are truly in love this will be a walk in the park.
I wish everyone the best on their journy and feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have questions. |

I entered through the Canadian/USA Border through Blaine Washington.
First let me say that we had a penske truck and a dog when crossing the boarder.
We pulled up to the boarder patrol officer and let him know that we were coming through with a K1 Visa, he had us pull into the parking lot.As we were pulling in we were greeted by another patrol officer and we let them know that we had a dog with us, she asked that we put our dog in her kennel while we are speaking with the boarder patrol officer. Once we put our dog in her kennel we went inside with our closed envelope from the consulate and our dogs vacinnation records, It did not take long till we were called up. The Boarder patrol officer was extremely grumpy and had ZERO personality, compared to the others there. He had us sit down as he went through the envelope and was playing around on the computer. 80% of the time we were sitting there he was talking to the rest of the staff about their plans for the up coming weekend and if they had any vacations coming up, if so what is their plans. When he was finally done he called us up and said 3 times now you HAVE to get married in 90 days if not your visa expires and you will have to start all over again. We continued to explain that we knew that and we already have plans and are VERY happy together and of course will follow the guidelines. He then stamped my passport and stapled in our I-94A Form. I asked if they wanted the keys to check our moving truck and if he wanted to see our dogs vacinnation records and he said no. Before we could leave we had to pay a $6.00 US Cash fee and then we were on our way.
It was very simple the only down fall was the boarder patrol officer we were dealing with. |

Our appointment was at 9AM and we arrived at 8:35AM. We went through the little security checkpoint and then checked in where we were given a piece of paper with a number that they would call when it is our turn.Once we checked in we were instructed to take the elevator to the 3rd floor I believe, its the only floor you can choose, once there you sit and wait till your number is called. We only waited about 10 maybe 15 minutes. We were called to a small office in the back with a very nice lady, she really put us at ease. She asked us to raise our right hand and swear that we are telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Then she asked if we could please provide her with our orginals of both our Birth Certificates, Passports & out Marriage Certificate, I brought copies but she already had them on file and did not need them. Then she asked me a few of the yes or no questions that I had answered on the I-485 and checked to make sure they matched what I had answered. Then she asked when was the first time I entered the united states, I thought she meant in regards to our relationship but she actually meant ever! I told her gosh maybe when I was 3, I lived very close to the boarder so we would travel across the line all the time. Then she asked me my fathers full name and asked if my parents lived or had legal citizenship in the United States of America. She asked if I am now employed, which I am as I was approved on August 20th for my EAD, so she just had me fill in the information on the original I-485, I brought a letter of employment but she did not need it. She looked out our photo album, which I was very excited about as I worked very hard on that, she loved the details of where and when we were in those places. Then that was it, it maybe took 15 minutes. She said that we would receive an update if our application was approved or not later, did not specify a time, and then handed us a letter saying at this point the application is still being reviewed but that they do not need any further information at this point. Then she requested we go to window 3 for them to take biometerics on me again and then we could leave. We went to window 3 the lady take fingerprints of my index finger on both hands and took a picture and she was done! 5 hours later we received an update online that our case was APPROVED!!! The card is already in the mail and expected to arrive October 1st!
Everyone at the Fresno was so kind and so welcoming. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
