Embassy Review : |
The interview process went well in Montreal, Canada. I completed mine on March 16, 2018. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott down the street (all the other hotels were booked up because it was the end of Canadian Spring Break). I walked from the hotel in freezing weather, got breakfast at the Tim Horton's up the street from the embassy, and then arrived around 7:45am at the doors.
There was a short lineup to go through the scanners. You must leave your cell phone at the entrance. I had a large 'zippered' binder with all my docs ... good choice with the windy, cold weather. And then I made my way up the elevator and waited till about 8:45 in the lounge when I was called to doublecheck I had all the correct paperwork.
I then waited about 1.5hrs to be called for the formal interview (I was one of the last in my group). The interview lasted max. about 10min and the lady was very kind. She then said I was good to go and I left the building. Five days later my visa arrived at the post office I had requested.
I felt bad overhearing several people who were called to initially doublecheck they all had the correct paperwork. Two people who had used lawyers were missing documents. Perhaps because the lawyer didn't communicate ... or perhaps they just weren't as invested in the process/requirements because they weren't looking after it themselves. We never used a lawyer and had no problems through the whole process ... no requests for further info, no missing docs or steps ... save yourself some money and disapointment if you can |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
