Embassy Review : |
We got there at 6am. Our appointment was for 8am. We showed the email with our appointment confirmation on it and we were put in a line that said resident visas and waited. They let the people with 7am appointments go first, and once they were done, they let us go. We went through a metal detector and Gabby had something in his wallet that set off the machine. They let him leave the embassy and throw it away and reenter. We went through the courtyard to the next building and were given a number. We waited for about 40 minutes until our number was called and they asked for our police report, medical exam results, and birth certificate. They told us that there was a problem with the DS-160 and we had to go to another section of the building with computers to fix it, and we needed our NVC number and case number to do this. For some reason, the computers weren't working, and we had to leave the embassy, go to a nearby plaza, and go to the embassy help office there. They couldn't access our DS-160, so we went back to the embassy. We returned to the worker that we gave the documents to, and told her our problems, and she said it was fine, and she photocopied my passport and took Gabby (the petitioner's) passport. We waited in another area until 12:30pm and our number was called. We had to swear with our right hands raised that we were telling the truth. They had Gabby scan his fingerprints. They had me answer how we met and started dating. Then they said they didn't see any reason why we shouldn't marry and we were approved! They didn't even look at our lovely photo album- everyone was carrying photo albums, but I didn't see anyone check them. They didn't have us share the affidavit of support, either! If I could do it over again, I would take my NVC letter with the case number on it, it would have been helpful. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
