I actually picked my visa on the 14, but it was ready on that Monday, which I feel is what people really want to know ;). |

The POE was so easy. The first officer I talked to was nice, I made mention he would need to go back to the secondary inspection room, as he was coming from there. He asked how so then I showed him the envelope, he asked the purpose and we did the normal picture and finger prints. I waited in the secondary inspection room about 30 minutes. I got called and told them how fast it was and they thought I was sarcastic, so it set a real good mood. There were two agents and we joked all the way. Actually they didn't ask me one single questions related to the visa, except where I was going. They said I was fine and we joked about the fact I was leaving the cold and get sunblock. I had a lot of fun. My POE was at Montreal airport. |

I had to redo my physical since it was expired by a few days. As you can see, my adjusted was very quick in approving my green card once he received the medical. |

I arrived at the consulate at 7h30 and my interview was at 8h30. I was the first one there, then another girl arrived, the doors were still not open. Then they opened the doors and asked who had an interview at 7h30, they let the other girl in, then I followed. They gave me a number and a list. I went through security, be aware that even if they take your phone, they will also remove any headphones, portable batteries, chargers, etc. Save yourself some trouble, and keep all those little electronics you won't need right after the interview somewhere else. Then I went downstairs, where they asked us to put our paperwork in the order indicated on the list they gave us. Then they came to get us to go upstairs, where we would have more time to place our papers. We got upstairs and I finished placing them. It was already 8h. Around 8h15 the other girl got called. She then comes back and I asked her how it went, well she wasn't done, it was only giving paper time. A few minutes after I was called for that as well. They actually ask for your paperworks one at a time, and not in the order they give you on the list. Once that was done, I went back to sit, the other girl was still there waiting to be called for her interview. It was already 8h35, 5 minutes late for my interview and way more for hers! Glad I got there early. Or was it long because i was early and they were not ready? We will never know. She got called for her interview which took max 5 minutes, and by 8h40 I was called for mine as well. Both ladies at the windows (first one for the paper handling), were very nice and smiling. For the interview, I was asked basic questions, how we met, when we met for the first time, what does he do for work, how he proposed and what was my longest stay in the US except when I had my work visa and if I ever had issues entering. I told her about the one time I had a work visa and I was sent to secondary inspection. For my longest stay I didn't remember the exact length, but told her never more than 6 months, which seemed to be what she wanted to hear . The interview was very smooth, I was just surprised it took so long. Actually I really cannot complain myself as it was only a few minutes later than my time. |

POE was really easy. I arrived very early as I was coming from Quebec City to Montreal and I had had previous bad experience. I was there over 5h early. I got to the airport around 13h40. I dropped my bags and explained to the lady why I was there so early, then I went through security. This was a bit long because they didn't have a lot of rows open. Then I went to go through custom, being a Canadian we normally use the electronic, but I told them I was activating a visa so they sent me the long way. When I talked with the first officer, he was very nice, he just was coming back from secondary inspection room, so I told him he would need to make another trip, he laughed and asked why. I showed him the envelope, he asked what it was about, I told him that I was going to marry my man, he asked where, took my fingerprints and picture and brought me to secondary.
I waited there for maybe 30 minutes. When my name got called, it was to the desk so I wasn't even getting to sit! I made mention of how quick it was (basing myself off of my previous experience when I waited for 2h before getting called). The guy looked at me smiling and said are you being sarcastic, this will get you a long way. I told him I wasn't at all and explained the past situation. I gave him the envelope, he asked where I was going, I said Las Vegas, so he told me how lucky I was to get out of here and the cold. After that it was all small chat and fun. They were two at the counter, but one main, one of their coworker showed up and he looked really angry, so I made a remark that I got lucky with them, they said he was Mr. Sunshine. As I said...the whole interview took maybe 5-10minutes, and most of it was joking, fun and laugh. They said I was the best K1 ever lol (don't be salty ). Then the other guy made mention of not leaving the US until I had adjusted my status, so I mentioned the advanced parolee and he raised both his thumbs at me and winked.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
