Comments : We arrived on time to be greeted by very long lines. Entered the Consulate in Guayaquil about 15 minutes later. Went through 2 layers of security to reach the waiting area. Maybe an hour later, we (myself, fiance and her son) were called to the window. The man asked many questions. But only questions that were factual to the information that was already included on the application. We were nervous of course but played around a little during the questioning. In hindsight, I think our playing helped to demonstrate our relationship. He entered our answers in the computer. Asked for a couple of documents. Very serious but still very polite and courteous man.

We were directed to have a seat. When he were seated, I asked my Fiance if she realized that was the first interview. She said it couldn't be the first interview, was to easy. Maybe 30 minutes later we were recalled to the same window by another man. I asked if the interview could be in English? He said, "NO". I was upset but held my tongue. He wasn't mean or discourteous about it, I just didn't like the answer. He conducted the interview in Spanish. i understood none of his questions, but as I heard my Fiances answers, I knew the questions. Again, he only asked questions that were associated with the application. At the end, he asked only 1 question. How do we communicate if I don't understand Spanish? She stated that she studied English many years ago and the more we communicate, her English only improves.

He looked at her and said in Spanish "approved". She started crying. I had no idea what had happened. When she told me, we all cried and the people still waiting clapped and congratulated us as we left. After all the stories I have read on VJ, our experience to date could not have been any easier. Wonderful Experience.

Comments : Upon entering the airport we followed the signs for Visitors. I felt odd since I was not a Visitor. Once we arrived the first security checkpoint, the officer was very kind and took my Fiances Bio-metrics. He then held her Manila Envelope of her Physical Examination in the air. Another officer received the envelope and escorted us to another waiting area for processing. We sat in this area for maybe an hour waiting for an interview. We were called to the officers desk, he only looked at us, handed us the papers and said "have a nice day".

What???? Not one question. I am sorry others have not had the experience we have had. But for us to date, the Visa Journey has been a wonderful experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
