Overall okay experience. I’d say helpful people/officers but the procedures and execution is not upto the mark.
I’ll give you points to note at the end, please be carefully with those.
I had a slot of 8:30 AM. Reached at 8:00 AM and when I was in the queue, the guard told that bags and phones not allowed. Phone I knew, but bags not allowed!
I had to then run around to find some small stall who agreed to keep the phone for 50Rs and another stall who kept the bag for 50Rs.
My fiancé was visiting luckily, so he accompanied me inside, as he had his original passport.
Inside, we went through the scanner into an open area with rows of benches. There’s a washroom area, and a very small coffee bakery counter there.
There were 2 staff members making people sit in rows. I was a little doubtful of the seating arrangement so I went and asked her myself where should I sit. Luckily I told her I was there for k1 visa and she asked me to skip the seating and go straight inside. (Follow the RED line)
Inside me and my fiancé took the benches again. It’s a comfortable space with AC and drinking water and lots of counter windows.
Step 1: A staff member came and collected these docs from me – ds160 page, appointment confirmation page, birth certificate Xerox, medical docs, PCC, fee receipt and 2 photographs.
We then waited till I was called for the fingerprints. The lady at that window stuck a note with token number on the appointment page.
Step 2: We waited for the token number at the document collection window. The lady here too asked a few questions and took the i-134, and fiance’s tax documents.
Step 3: Longer wait for the final call for interview. We were called almost after 1 hour of waiting. The guy at the window was a black American and seemed polite and not moody. I told him my fiancé was here with me and he just smiled. When my fiancé joined at the window, he asked him a few questions as well, a few questions from me and we were done after 10-12 mins. He asked for no proof of relationship as the petitioner was there. Visa Approved!!
Total time approx. 4 Hours
Note 1: Do NOT Take phone/food/bag inside. Leave it with someone outside(same waiting area near the road. Its hot in summer!)
Note 2: For immigration visa, after passport scan at the gate, go straight inside following the red line.
Note 3: Keep all docs organized, and marked for easy reference.
Note 4: if petitioner/fiancé wants to accompany for interview, they can – they NEED TO carry original USA passport.
All the best! |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
